Job Overview

Jetstar Japan (JJP), a prominent low-cost carrier based in Narita, Japan, is actively seeking highly qualified and dedicated aviation professionals for the position of Airbus A320 First Officer. JJP currently maintains a modern fleet of 24 A320 aircraft and is expanding operations across 24 routes to 14 domestic and international destinations, facilitating over 100 daily flights. Positions are available for both A320 type-rated and non-type-rated pilots, with consideration given to candidates holding or not holding a current Japanese Civil Aviation Bureau (JCAB) license. Non-JCAB licensed pilots are encouraged to apply, though possession of an A320 type rating is recommended to ensure competitiveness.

Contract Terms and Remuneration

  • Contract Length: The contract is offered for an initial period of three (3) years and is renewable upon mutual agreement.

Minimum Requirements and Eligibility

The employing carrier requires all applicants to meet the following foundational criteria:

  1. The candidate must hold, or be immediately eligible to hold, relevant Japanese permanent residency status or possess an unrestricted legal right to work within Japan.
  2. Possession of a current, valid Airline Transport Pilot License (ATPL) from ICAO, EASA, or FAA issuing authorities is mandatory.
  3. The pilot must hold a current First Class Medical Certificate.
  4. A minimum ICAO English Language Proficiency Level 4 or higher is required.

Specific Experience Requirements

For A320 Type Rated Pilots:

  • A minimum of 2,000 hours of total flight time.
  • A minimum of 1,000 hours flight time specifically on the Airbus A320 family of aircraft.
  • A minimum of 250 hours Pilot in Command (PIC) time, or an acceptable equivalent of 180 hours PICUS (Pilot in Command Under Supervision) combined with 70 hours PIC time.

For Non-Type Rated Pilots:

  • A minimum of 3,000 hours of total flight time.
  • A minimum of 1,000 hours of jet time acquired with a commercial airline operator.
  • A minimum of 250 hours Pilot in Command (PIC) time, or an acceptable equivalent of 180 hours PICUS (Pilot in Command Under Supervision) combined with 70 hours PIC time.
