Key Responsibilities

The Lead Captain is entrusted with a comprehensive set of duties crucial to the success and safety of flight operations:

  • Operate aircraft safely and efficiently, making critical decisions regarding departure times, routes, and flight cancellations based on operational conditions.
  • Ensure strict adherence to all federal, local, and company regulations, policies, and procedures during all flight operations.
  • Coordinate aircraft schedules and training activities with the flight crew and Principal, incorporating supplemental crew as necessary to maintain operational readiness.
  • Liaise effectively with the Maintenance Provider to ensure timely aircraft servicing, cleaning, and maintenance requirements are met.
  • Oversee and review the submission of accurate flight and duty records, along with all other required documentation from assigned crew members.
  • Maintain the currency and readiness of all essential aircraft manuals, Jeppesen charts, and Electronic Flight Bags (EFBs), delegating tasks as appropriate.
  • Coordinate crew member training and check rides in accordance with the annual training calendar.
  • Strategically manage crew time off and training events to ensure maximum aircraft coverage and operational continuity.
  • Verify that all flight crew members report for duty in proper attire and are mentally and physically fit for their responsibilities.
  • Act as a mentor and coach for crew members, actively supporting their professional development and growth.
  • Conduct thorough annual performance reviews for assigned crew members, providing constructive feedback and guidance.
  • Assist in the meticulous hiring process for new flight crew members, contributing to team excellence.
  • Implement all necessary operational changes required by en route conditions, ensuring compliance with appropriate company policies and procedures.
  • Conduct all flights in a safe and prudent manner, upholding industry best practices and company standards.
  • Accurately complete all trip paperwork in strict accordance with current procedures.
  • Foster a thorough and complete understanding with the Second in Command regarding all aspects of the flight.
  • Record all aircraft discrepancies promptly on the aircraft discrepancy log and immediately report them to the Director of Maintenance or their designee.
  • Consult the approved Minimum Equipment List (MEL) and coordinate with maintenance to determine if inoperative items can be deferred or require immediate repair, completing discrepancy logs as required.
  • Maintain a comprehensive working knowledge of all aircraft systems authorized for operation, including all emergency systems and procedures.
  • Secure the aircraft after each flight, including arranging hangar storage when deemed necessary or instructed by company management.
  • Obtain the most current weather reports, forecasts, and NOTAMs from authorized agencies such as an FAA flight service station.
  • File or ensure the filing of flight plans with the FAA or an ICAO state ATC facility.
  • Conduct detailed analysis of area, en route, and terminal charts for the intended landing airport and designated alternates.
  • Execute the required passenger safety briefings or assign this duty to the Second in Command.
  • Impart essential knowledge and skills to the Second in Command, preparing them to assume Pilot in Command duties during emergencies or for future upgrades.
  • Actively support and promote the open sharing of information on all safety issues, diligently reporting all safety hazards and concerns.
  • While the Pilot in Command may delegate duties, the ultimate responsibility for those duties remains with the Lead Captain.
  • Perform other duties as required to support flight operations.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience

Candidates must meet the following stringent requirements to be considered for this Lead Captain position:

  • Possess an Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) Certificate with the appropriate Aircraft Type Rating.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a current FAA First Class Medical Certificate.
  • Minimum of 4000 hours Total Fixed Wing flight time.
  • Minimum of 350 hours specifically in the Falcon 2000LX type.
  • Minimum of 1500 hours Multi-Engine Land flight time.
  • Minimum of 2000 hours Pilot-in-Command (PIC) flight time.
  • Minimum of 1500 hours Turbojet flight time.
  • Minimum of 1500 hours Turbine flight time.
  • Minimum of 100 hours Night flight time.
  • Minimum of 75 hours Actual or Simulated Instrument flight time.
  • A minimum of 5 years of professional aviation experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to work flexible schedules, accommodating varied flight requirements.
  • Willingness and ability to travel worldwide extensively without any restrictions.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.

Work Environment and Physical Demands

This role requires an individual capable of performing duties in diverse environments, from heavy maintenance facilities to upscale customer areas. The position involves frequent use of hands, standing, walking, and sitting, with occasional climbing, balancing, kneeling, crouching, or crawling. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds overhead. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust and focus. The work environment typically features moderate noise levels, with occasional high volume during aircraft arrivals and departures. Exposure to vibration is frequent, and occasional fuel fumes may be present. The successful candidate must be willing and able to work in all types of weather conditions, and the hangar environment may experience extreme heat and cold during different seasons.
