About Isles of Scilly Skybus
Isles of Scilly Skybus provides essential air transport services, connecting the Cornish mainland with the Isles of Scilly. Pilots will primarily operate the De Havilland Canada DHC-6 Twin Otter, a robust and versatile aircraft ideally suited for the challenging yet picturesque operational landscape of the region.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Operating the DHC-6 Twin Otter aircraft in strict accordance with company procedures, aviation regulations, and the highest safety standards.
- Ensuring safe and efficient flight operations, encompassing meticulous pre-flight planning, proficient in-flight management, and comprehensive post-flight duties.
- Maintaining the utmost standards of professionalism, integrity, and exceptional customer service.
- Working collaboratively and effectively as an integral part of a close-knit operational team.
Minimum Requirements
Prospective candidates must meet the following essential criteria:
- Flight Experience:
- A minimum of 200 hours total flying time.
- A minimum of 70 hours Pilot in Command (PIC) time.
- Licensing and Ratings:
- Possession of a valid UK CAA issued Frozen ATPL.
- Current Instrument Rating (IR).
- Multi-Crew Cooperation (MCC) certificate.
- Multi-Engine (ME) rating.
- Upset Prevention and Recovery Training (UPRT) certificate.
- Medical Certification:
- A current Class 1 Medical Certificate.
- English Language Proficiency:
- Achieved ICAO English Language Proficiency Level 4 or higher.
- Right to Work:
- Unrestricted right to live and work in the United Kingdom. Visa sponsorship is not provided for this role.
- Security Clearance:
- Ability to provide comprehensive references from employers for the last five years to facilitate the acquisition of an airside security pass.
- Type Rating: A DHC-6 Twin Otter type rating is not a mandatory prerequisite, as comprehensive type rating training will be provided to successful candidates.
Desirable Attributes and Experience
The ideal candidate will also possess one or more of the following experiences or qualifications:
- A current or previous DHC-6 Twin Otter type rating.
- Demonstrable flight experience in turboprop aircraft.
- Experience operating light multi-engine aircraft, including types such as the King Air, Shorts Skyvan, Islander, or Trislander.
- Flight experience in tailwheel aircraft, gliding, or similar flight disciplines.
- Prior operational experience within regional airlines, small operators, island communities, freight operations, medivac services, or other similarly demanding aviation environments.
