First Officer Minimum Qualification Standards
The ideal candidate must hold current licensing and medical documentation acceptable to the Hong Kong Civil Aviation Department (HKCAD).
First Officer (A320 Type Rated) Requirements
Candidates applying for the Type Rated position must meet the following minimum flight experience and documentation standards:
- Minimum Flight Experience: 500 flying hours accrued on the A320 type aircraft.
- Licensing: Holder of a valid Multi-Engine ICAO Commercial Pilot License (CPL) with Instrument Rating, which must have been gained without exemptions, and be acceptable by the HKCAD.
- Documentation: A valid Radiotelephony Operator’s license.
- Medical Certification: A valid Class 1 Medical Certificate.
- Language Proficiency: ICAO English level 4 or above.
First Officer (Non-Type Rated) Requirements
Candidates applying for the Non-Type Rated position must meet one of the following criteria regarding flight experience, in addition to standard licensing requirements:
- Option 1: A minimum of 1000 total flying hours, of which 500 hours must be accrued on an aircraft utilized for commercial aviation, driven by turbines, and possess a maximum certificated takeoff weight exceeding 5,670 kg; OR
- Option 2: A minimum of 1000 total flying hours, of which 500 hours must be accrued on a corporate jet; OR
- Option 3: A minimum of 2000 total flying hours, of which 500 hours must be accrued on civil registered transport aircraft certificated for multi-crew operations.
- Licensing: Holder of a valid Multi-Engine ICAO Commercial Pilot License (CPL) with Instrument Rating, which must have been gained without exemptions, and be acceptable by the HKCAD.
- Documentation: A valid Radiotelephony Operator’s license.
- Medical Certification: A valid Class 1 Medical Certificate.
- Language Proficiency: ICAO English level 4 or above.
