Position Summary
The First Officer/Second in Command (SIC) is integral to the safe and efficient operation of the aircraft, providing comprehensive support to the Pilot in Command (PIC) in all flight duties. This collaborative role ensures strict adherence to company policies, Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs), and industry best practices. Key responsibilities include vigilant monitoring of aircraft systems, effective communication with flight services, and contributing to a seamless and superior passenger experience. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Flight Operations Support: Assists the PIC in comprehensive flight planning and execution, encompassing weather analysis, route optimization, aircraft performance calculations, and pre-flight inspections. Ensures full compliance with all applicable regulations, standard operating procedures, and the company's Flight Operations Manual.
- Flight Monitoring and Navigation: Diligently monitors aircraft instrumentation and systems throughout all flight phases. Operates navigational and communication radios under the direction of the PIC, securing clearances and relaying instructions as necessary.
- Crew Resource Management (CRM): Cultivates and maintains a high standard of crew coordination and communication, providing constructive feedback to the PIC and other crew members to enhance flight safety and efficiency. Actively participates in the company's Safety Management System (SMS) to proactively identify and mitigate risks.
- Pre-flight and Post-flight Duties: Contributes to thorough pre-flight inspections, ensuring the aircraft is impeccably maintained, provisioned, and prepared for flight. Verifies the presence of all required manuals, charts, and passenger-specific items (e.g., catering) prior to departure. Executes post-flight procedures and documentation with precision.
- Safety and Emergency Procedures: Remains acutely aware of any abnormal situations or deviations from standard procedures. Is prepared to assume control of the aircraft to prevent hazards in the event of PIC incapacitation or inattention. Actively participates in safety audits, corrective action plans, and preventive measure initiatives.
- Passenger Service Excellence: Contributes to providing an outstanding customer experience for all passengers, prioritizing their comfort and safety throughout the flight. Supports the PIC in addressing passenger needs and delivering a consistently high-quality flight experience.
Qualifications
- Experience:
- 500-2500 total flight hours, with a minimum of 100 hours in multi-engine fixed-wing aircraft.
- Turbine experience is preferred.
- Certifications:
- LR-45 type rating is required.
- A Commercial Pilot Certificate with a multi-engine instrument rating or higher is mandatory.
- A current First-Class Medical Certificate is required.
- Skills:
- Demonstrates a strong working knowledge of FAA regulations and flight operations procedures.
- Possesses excellent communication and decision-making capabilities, with a proven ability to function effectively within a team environment.
- Proficient in Crew Resource Management (CRM) principles and flight management systems.
- Other Requirements:
- Must be available to report to the departure airport within 60 minutes for charter flight assignments.
- Ability to lift, push, or pull over 50 pounds when handling baggage and equipment.
- Must hold a valid passport and be willing to travel for extended periods as dictated by the flight schedule.
