General Atomics Seeks Specialized Pilot for Flight Operations

General Atomics is actively seeking highly qualified and experienced aviation professionals for a critical role within its specialized Flight Operations division. The ideal candidate will possess a robust background in complex aircraft operations, particularly involving modified restricted or experimental platforms, and must be capable of supporting demanding domestic and international missions.

Minimum Aviation Experience Requirements

Candidates must meet or exceed the following mandatory flight hour requirements:

  • Total Time: 3,000 hours
  • Pilot-in-Command (PIC) Time: 2,000 hours
  • Multi-Engine Time: 1,000 hours
  • Turbine Time: 1,000 hours
  • Cross Country Time: 750 hours
  • Instrument Time: 150 hours

Licensing and Clearance

The successful candidate must meet stringent regulatory and security requirements:

  • Required License: Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) Certificate.
  • Licensing Authority: Open to FAA license holders.
  • Medical Requirement: Current FAA Class 1 Medical Certificate.
  • Type Rating: Not required; company-specific aircraft type rating training will be provided.
  • Security Clearance: The candidate must possess the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense (DoD) Security Clearance, as well as specific customer clearances.

Required Qualifications and Professional Attributes

General Atomics requires candidates who demonstrate exceptional professional experience and technical aptitude:

Education and Experience

Typically requires formal training equivalent to a four-year technical degree and eight or more years of progressive experience in ground and flight operations. Equivalent professional aviation experience may be substituted in lieu of educational requirements. Candidates must demonstrate a strong aviation background, including extensive experience flying modified Restricted or Experimental aircraft.

Technical and Operational Skills

  • Demonstrates a complete and detailed understanding of technical principles, theories, and concepts relevant to complex flight operations.
  • Detailed knowledge of computer operations and applications, including proficiency with MS Office, Apple iOS, Foreflight, Google Earth, and Garmin products.

General Attributes and Communication

  • Must have excellent organizational skills, including proficiency in planning and coordinating work assignments with both external clients and internal personnel.
  • Must maintain a strong customer focus.
  • Possesses excellent presentation, analytical, interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills to accurately interface with all levels of military and civilian customers, contractors, aircrew, and other employees.
  • The ability to work both independently and lead in a team environment is essential.
  • Must have the ability to travel both domestically and internationally for extended periods to support mission requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with the following aircraft or associated type ratings is highly desired but not mandatory:

  • Dornier Do228 type rating and operational experience.
  • King Air 350 type rating and operational experience.
