First Officer
FlySafair is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated First Officer to join our esteemed team. This permanent position offers a market-related salary and is based in Johannesburg. The successful candidate will play a critical role in ensuring the safety and efficiency of all flight operations.
Key Responsibilities:

Ensure the safety of flight in a timely manner, monitoring flight paths and aircraft systems.

Perform pre-flight, in-flight, and post-flight checks and procedures according to company standards and regulations.

Communicate effectively with internal departments, external service providers, and passengers.

Navigate and operate the aircraft proficiently.
-
Ensure strict compliance with all applicable aviation regulations and company policies and procedures.

Uphold the company's core competitive edge through the provision of excellent customer service.

Submit accurate and complete legal administrative documentation.
-
Assume command in the event of the incapacitation of the Captain.
-
Stay updated with applicable SACAA and international aviation laws and company Operations Manuals.

Assist the Captain with operational and administrative duties, and in maintaining crew discipline, behavior, and appearance.

Carry out duties in accordance with FlySafair Standard Operating Procedures, including specific aircraft type procedures, limitations, and performance.

Confirm the safe navigation of the aircraft, continuously checking geographical position and terrain clearance.

Provide advice, information, and assistance to the Captain to ensure the safe and efficient conduct of the flight.

Maintain a high personal standard of discipline, conduct, and appearance as a representative of the Company.

Support the Captain in developing and maintaining high standards of professional expertise and morale amongst the crew.

Ensure continuous compliance with the company's Operations Manual.

Be fully aware of planned flight routes, briefing sheets, and forecast conditions at destination and alternate aerodromes.

Collaborate with the Captain to review all necessary documents for informed decision-making regarding fuel selection, alternates, and flight restrictions.
-
Perform or monitor the execution of normal, abnormal, and emergency checklists.

Monitor all aspects of the flight, ensuring correct procedures and techniques are used, crosschecking flight instrument indications, and advising the Captain of any deviations or hazardous situations.

Conduct R/T communications as required.

Ensure all post-flight procedures are completed as per the Operations Manual and Flight Crew Operations Manual.

Submit all relevant documentation and reports.
Qualifications and Experience:
-
Grade 12 or equivalent.
-
SACAA Commercial Pilot License (Essential).
-
SACAA ATPL (Preferred).
-
Class 1 SACAA Medical Certificate (Essential).
-
Type rated on Boeing (Advantageous).
-
Experience on Commercial Jets over 20 Tons (Advantageous).
-
Minimum of 1500 flight hours (Non-Type Rated or Boeing Type Rated), including 500 hours of Multi-Turbine time (Essential).

Multi-Crew experience (Essential).

No existing medical conditions.
-
Willing to sign applicable training bonds.
-
No criminal record.
-
Willing to undergo drug and alcohol testing.
-
Own transport and RSA Driver’s License.
-
South African Citizen with proof of identity.
-
Willing to undergo psychometric assessments.
-
Valid RSA Passport.

Must be willing to work irregular hours on a roster.

Detailed knowledge and understanding of National Aviation regulations, including SACAA and ICAO.

Knowledge of Doc 8186 (Essential).

Knowledge of Commercial and Airline Transport Pilot licensing content.
