Essential Qualifications and Experience
Prospective applicants must meet the following mandatory requirements to be considered for this sought-after aviation role:
- Candidates must be South African citizens and possess a valid South African Passport.
- Possession of a valid South African Airline Transport Pilot’s License (ATPL) is strongly preferred.
- Alternatively, applicants holding a Commercial Pilot License (CPL) who have successfully completed all ground subjects required for the ATPL (commonly referred to as a ‘Frozen ATPL’) are encouraged to apply.
- A valid multi-engine instrument rating is mandatory.
- The successful candidate, if hired on a ‘Frozen ATPL,’ must obtain a full, unrestricted ATPL within four (4) years from the official date of employment with the company.
- Applicants must maintain a current and valid Class 1 medical certificate.
- Candidates must possess a minimum of 1,500 total flying hours, including at least 200 hours accrued on multi-engine aircraft.
Academic Requirements
Formal academic qualifications are mandatory and include the following:
- A Matric Certificate, Grade 12 results, or N3 qualification, or an equivalent relevant tertiary qualification (all credentials must be SAQA accredited).
- Compulsory core subjects must include:
- Mathematics or Statistics 101.
- English (achieving a D symbol on higher grade or a C symbol on standard grade).
- Applicants must also have successfully completed one of the following subjects:
- Physical Science or Computer Science (achieving a D symbol on higher grade or a C symbol on standard grade).
