Head of Theoretical Training
Our esteemed aviation academy is seeking a highly experienced and dedicated Head of Theoretical Training to lead and manage all facets of its theoretical training program. This pivotal role ensures the delivery of exceptional ground school instruction, maintains stringent regulatory compliance, and fosters an environment of continuous improvement and student success.
Role Summary
The Head of Theoretical Training will be responsible for overseeing the entire theoretical training curriculum, from managing ground school requirements to ensuring the highest quality of instruction. This includes the effective utilization of training resources, continuous monitoring of student performance, and the development and supervision of instructional staff. The role also involves proposing curriculum enhancements, implementing industry-approved training techniques, and liaising with other training organizations to align with best practices and organizational goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensures the uncompromising standard of all approved courses and examinations, upholding the academy's reputation for excellence.
- Manages and allocates all necessary training resources, including qualified instructors, training manuals, classroom facilities, and instructional aids.
- Implements corrective actions promptly as directed by the Head of Training and in response to compliance audits.
- Oversees the continuous professional development of theoretical instructors, ensuring their training aligns with their qualifications and industry standards.
- Stays abreast of the latest aviation training practices, regulatory compliance requirements, and educational innovations to maintain a cutting-edge program.
- Manages the issuance and renewal of qualifications for all theoretical knowledge instructors.
- Supervises the meticulous creation and updating of course materials, ensuring alignment with current standards and regulatory guidelines.
- Determines and recommends optimal instructor staffing levels based on projected training demand.
- Actively participates in the selection and hiring process for Ground Instructors.
- Maintains comprehensive records of all instructor qualifications, teaching records, and operational limits.
- Strategically assigns instructional responsibilities, leveraging each instructor's specific area of expertise.
- Oversees the maintenance of the training reference library in strict adherence to operational guidelines.
- Upholds rigorous training and safety standards, complying with both internal academy policies and external regulatory authorities.
- Coordinates essential health and safety induction briefings in collaboration with the Safety department.
Qualifications
- Candidates must possess a Bachelor's Degree (minimum 3 years) combined with a Commercial Pilot License (CPL), OR a High School Diploma coupled with an Airline Transport Pilot License (ATPL).
- A Bachelor's degree in aviation, education, or a closely related field is highly preferred.
- Fluency in English is essential; proficiency in additional languages is considered an advantage.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience as a theoretical instructor is required.
- Applicants should demonstrate 5-7 years of overall professional experience related to aviation training and regulatory compliance.
- A valid Commercial Pilot License (CPL) is mandatory.

Information Security Responsibility (ISR)
The incumbent is expected to fully read and comply with the Company’s Information Security Responsibility (ISR) policies. All identified weaknesses or incidents must be diligently reported to the respective Line Manager or the Information Security team. Completion of all required ISR awareness sessions and adherence to associated guidelines in daily business operations are mandatory.
