UAS Test Pilot

Flock Safety is seeking a qualified UAS Test Pilot to join its Aviation Department. This full-time role, based in Austin, TX, involves on-site work with up to 35% domestic travel required. This individual contributor will be instrumental in advancing Drone as First Responder (DFR) programs, ensuring the reliability and performance of drone systems, and providing critical insights and improvements for their technology.

The UAS Test Pilot will pilot drones for testing, training, and customer demonstrations, ensuring compliance with FAA regulations and company policies. The pilot conducts pre-flight inspections, flight planning, and post-flight analysis, and tests and evaluates drone hardware and software to ensure reliability and performance. The pilot collaborates with engineering and product teams, documents test results, and provides detailed feedback. Responsibilities also include coordinating the shipping, storage, and maintenance of drone hardware, managing inventory, and conducting research on emerging drone technologies. The pilot will provide technical support, assist in developing documentation and training materials, ensure adherence to safety protocols, engage with customers, and contribute to continuous improvement of drone systems.

Qualifications:

• FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate.
• Comprehensive knowledge of FAA regulations and safety protocols.
• Experience in drone operations, preferably in public safety or emergency response.
• Proficiency in piloting various drone models and a strong understanding of UAV technology.
• Experience with drone hardware and software testing, including diagnostics and troubleshooting.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Effective communication skills.
• Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to travel (approximately 35%) and work outdoors.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
• Customer-focused mindset.
• Strong research skills.

Flock Safety offers a competitive salary range of $70,000 - $100,000, commensurate with experience, plus equity.
