Contract Instructor Pilot
FlightSafety International, the premier professional aviation training organization, is seeking a qualified Contract Instructor Pilot to join the team at NAS Whiting Field. FlightSafety provides advanced training for pilots, technicians, and aviation professionals worldwide, operating the largest fleet of advanced full-flight simulators.
Purpose of Position
The Contract Instructor Pilot is responsible for conducting ground school and simulator-based training in the TH-57B/C Flight Training Device (FTD). This role includes managing briefings, debriefings, and instructing U.S. Navy and Allied Nation pilots during initial or instructor-level helicopter training.
Tasks and Responsibilities

Deliver instructor-led training for training devices and systems using both traditional and modern instructional technology.

Evaluate and document student mission performance, utilizing FTD replay capabilities for debriefs.

Finalize electronic student grade sheets via official CNATRA Training or Learning Management Systems.

Monitor and record trainer performance according to established standards.

Contribute to the effectiveness of training programs by recommending curriculum improvements and scenario updates.

Develop and maintain classroom materials, including lesson plans, test materials, and trainee guides.

Provide operational instruction to personnel regarding briefing, debriefing, and assessment methodologies.
Minimum Qualifications

Education:
Bachelor’s Degree required.

Experience:
Must be a current or former Naval Air Training and Operating Procedures Standardization (NATOPS) qualified helicopter pilot or have served as a TH-57 simulator instructor within the last five years. Must have a minimum of one deployed fleet tour and at least 800 flying hours in helicopters.

Ability to provide real-time remediation and professional interface with students.

Proficiency in standard office software, including word processing, spreadsheets, and databases.

Must successfully complete an annual internal standardization evaluation.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
The role requires regular periods of sitting, handling materials, and reaching, with the ability to occasionally lift up to 20 pounds. Candidates must possess close and distance vision and the ability to adjust focus. Work is performed in an environment with moderate noise levels.
