Flight Instructor

The Flight Instructor will deliver ground and simulator flight instruction, adhering to aviation regulations and FlightSafety's training principles.

Responsibilities:

• Conduct pilot ground and simulator training for clients enrolled in core, specialty, or enrichment courses.
• Develop and prepare training materials that support training delivery and meet client needs, in accordance with the applicable curriculum.
• Evaluate and measure trainee progress, recommending qualification or additional training as needed.
• Maintain accurate training records specific to each client, aiding their success in achieving their objectives.
• Identify client training issues and seek assistance prior to execution.
• Maintain instructor qualifications in accordance with regulatory requirements.

Minimum Experience:

• Must be able and willing to participate in FlightSafety’s DOT Drug and Alcohol testing program.
• Possession of an unrestricted ATP certificate, or an ICAO member state Airline Transport Pilot License.
• If no ATP, must meet the requirements of 14 CFR part 61.153 and 14 CFR part 61.64 without a Supervised Operating Experience (SOE) limitation.
• A minimum of one unrestricted PIC type rating is required.
• Preferred: Experience in FAR Part 135, FAR Part 121, or military training.
• Preferred: A minimum of 2,500 hours of total flight time.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Demonstrated knowledge of aviation safety standards and practices.
• Comprehensive knowledge of common aviation regulations.
• Ability to effectively manage classes and teach.
• Possess first-level facilitation and customer service skills.
• Demonstrated ability to be coachable and receptive to feedback.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

The role requires regular use of hands for manipulating objects, tools, and controls, as well as reaching, talking, and hearing. The employee may be required to stand, walk, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, taste, and smell. Physical range of motion is necessary to reach, exert pressure, and manipulate rudder controls and anti-torque with both feet, and to manipulate numerous controls within the simulator device. The ability to enter and exit the simulator via the provided ramp, move between instructor station, screen, and podium, and exit from a malfunctioning simulator in a pitched attitude is also required. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, and frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. The employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts and may work in high, precarious places and in outside weather conditions. Occasional exposure to wet or humid conditions, fumes, airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme cold or heat, risk of electrical shock, risk of radiation, and vibration may occur.
