Purpose of Position

The Flight Instructor is responsible for delivering exceptional ground and simulator flight instruction, adhering to stringent aviation regulations and FlightSafety Training principles.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

The role requires regular use of hands for fine motor skills, reaching with hands and arms, and clear verbal communication. The Flight Instructor may be required to stand, walk, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and utilize taste or smell senses.

A full physical range of motion is necessary to operate rudder controls and anti-torque mechanisms with both feet, manipulate numerous controls within the simulator, and safely enter and exit the simulator device. The instructor must be able to move freely between the Instructor station, screen, and podium during classroom instruction and safely exit a malfunctioning simulator in a potentially severe pitched attitude. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

The Flight Instructor must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. The work environment may include proximity to moving mechanical parts, high places, and exposure to outdoor weather conditions, including wet or humid conditions, fumes, airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme temperatures, risk of electrical shock, risk of radiation, and vibration.
