Purpose of Position

The Flight Instructor is responsible for delivering exceptional ground and simulator flight instruction. This individual will adhere to all aviation regulations and FlightSafety Training principles.

Tasks and Responsibilities

• Conduct pilot ground and simulator training for clients participating in core, specialty, or enrichment training courses.
• Develop and prepare training materials that align with the applicable curriculum and meet client needs.
• Evaluate trainee progress, recommend trainees for qualification, and identify areas requiring additional training.
• Maintain accurate training records for each client, ensuring clear documentation of progress towards training objectives.
• Proactively identify and address potential client training issues before they impact training execution.
• Maintain Instructor qualifications in accordance with regulatory requirements.

Minimum Experience

• This position requires previous rotorcraft experience.
• Must be able and willing to participate in FlightSafety's DOT Drug and Alcohol testing program.
• Must possess an unrestricted ATP certificate, or an ICAO member state Airline Transport Pilot License.
• Candidates without an ATP certificate must meet the requirements of:
  • 14 CFR part 61.153
  • 14 CFR part 61.64 without a Supervised Operating Experience (SOE) limitation.
• Must hold a minimum of one unrestricted PIC type rating.
• Preferred qualifications include:
  • FAR Part 135, FAR Part 121, or military training experience.
  • 2,500 hours of total flight time.

• Demonstrated knowledge of aviation safety standards and practices.
• Working knowledge of common aviation regulations.
• Proven ability to effectively manage classes and deliver engaging instruction.
• First-level facilitation and customer service skills.
• Ability to receive feedback constructively and demonstrate a commitment to ongoing development.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

This position requires the physical dexterity to manipulate rudder controls and anti-torque mechanisms with both feet, as well as reach and operate various controls within the simulator. The Flight Instructor must be able to navigate the simulator environment, including entering and exiting via a ramp and moving between the instructor station, screen, and podium during classroom instruction. In the event of a simulator malfunction, the individual must be capable of safely exiting the device, even when it is in a severely pitched attitude.

Specific vision abilities required for this role include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

The Flight Instructor must be able to lift and move up to 10 pounds regularly, and up to 25 pounds frequently.

This role operates in an environment with moving mechanical parts, and may involve working in high places, outside weather conditions, and exposure to wet/humid conditions, fumes, airborne particles, toxic/caustic chemicals, extreme temperatures, electrical hazards, radiation, and vibration.
