Purpose of Position

The Flight Instructor plays a pivotal role in delivering exceptional ground and simulator flight instruction, adhering meticulously to aviation regulations and FlightSafety Training principles.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

This position requires individuals to perform tasks that involve regular use of hands for fine motor skills, reaching, and verbal communication. The role may necessitate standing, walking, sitting, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and utilizing the senses of taste and smell.

Specifically, the role demands the physical capacity to operate rudder controls and anti-torque mechanisms with both feet, manipulate simulator controls from the instructor's chair, navigate entry and exit from the simulator, move between various classroom stations, and safely exit a malfunctioning simulator in a potentially extreme pitch attitude.

Visual acuity for close-up work, distance vision, color perception, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus are essential. The candidate must be able to lift and maneuver objects weighing up to 10 pounds regularly and up to 25 pounds frequently.

The work environment may involve exposure to moving mechanical parts, high places, outdoor weather conditions, wet or humid conditions, fumes, airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme temperatures, electrical hazards, radiation, and vibration.
