Position Overview
Direct Entry Captains at Flair Airlines are pivotal leaders, demonstrating the highest standards of personal and professional conduct. They are responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of Boeing 737 aircraft across the airline's growing network, which includes destinations in Canada, the United States, Mexico, and the Caribbean. Reporting to the Chief Pilot, the successful candidate will work collaboratively to enhance the customer experience through effective leadership, positive interactions, clear communication, and adept problem-solving skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct pre-flight inspections of aircraft and systems, ensuring the highest standards of safety.
- Operate the aircraft with utmost safety and professionalism at all times.
- Continuously monitor weather conditions and maintain seamless communication with air traffic control throughout flights.
- Collaborate effectively with First Officers and the entire flight crew.
- Liaise with Dispatch, review flight plans before takeoff, and adhere to all Transport Canada regulations.
- Proactively anticipate potential issues, while maintaining the commercial schedule.
- Promptly inform crew and passengers of any turbulence, adverse weather, or other operational factors that might impact the flight.
- Maintain consistent and effective communication with maintenance, System Operations Control Center (SOCC), and dispatch personnel.
- Remain current with aircraft advancements and equipment modifications.
- File comprehensive flight reports detailing the flight and aircraft status upon landing.
- Provide the Chief Pilot with any pertinent information regarding flight safety.
- Execute other assigned duties as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
- A minimum of 5,000 hours total fixed-wing flight time.
- A minimum of 500 Pilot-in-Command (PIC) hours on jet aircraft exceeding 75,000 pounds, or 1,000+ hours on B737NG/MAX (B73C) or similar type.
- Unrestricted ability to travel to and from the United States.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Restricted Area Identification Card (RAIC).
- A valid Transport Canada Airline Transport Pilot’s License (ATPL).
- A valid Category 1 Medical Certificate.
- Proficiency in English and/or French.
- A clear background and criminal record check.
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary Range: $180,000.00 to $252,900.00, in accordance with the Collective Agreement.
- Hours: A minimum monthly guarantee of 85 flying credits, with overtime eligibility beyond 88 hours.
- Benefits: Comprehensive benefits package including Disability Insurance, Dental Insurance, Employer-provided Pension, Extended Medical Insurance, Staff Travel Program, Cellular and dry-cleaning monthly allowances, eligibility for Company Matched Pension, and 12-13 guaranteed days off per month, with an average of 15 days off.
