Position Overview

The Direct Entry Captain role places individuals in the most senior command position, responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the aircraft.

Role Requirements

Prospective Airbus Captains must meet the following essential criteria:

• A minimum of 7,000 total flying hours, excluding P3 time, rotary-wing, and single/multi-engine piston aircraft experience.
• For Airbus A380 command, candidates must be currently flying as an Airbus Fly-By-Wire (FBW) Captain with a minimum of 3,000 Pilot-In-Command (PIC) hours on Airbus FBW aircraft.
• For Airbus A350 command, candidates require a minimum of 3,000 command hours on a multi-crew, multi-engine commercial jet aircraft with a Maximum Take-Off Weight (MTOW) exceeding 50 tonnes. A minimum of 1,500 of these hours must be as Captain on an Airbus FBW aircraft.
• Demonstrated proficiency with a minimum of 150 flying hours on type within the past 12 months.
• Possession of a valid ICAO ATPL and a matching Authority Class 1 Medical Certificate.
• ICAO English language proficiency level 5 or higher.
