The Role of a Direct Entry Captain

Minimum Role Requirements

To be considered for the esteemed position of a Direct Entry Airbus Captain, candidates must fulfill the following stringent criteria:

• A minimum of 7,000 hours of total flying time, specifically excluding P3, rotary, and single/multi-engine piston aircraft experience.
• For Airbus A380 Captain roles: Candidates must currently be flying as an Airbus Fly-By-Wire (FBW) Wide Body Captain and possess a minimum of 3,000 hours Pilot in Command (PIC) on Airbus FBW Wide Body aircraft.
• For Airbus A350 Captain roles: Candidates must have a minimum of 3,000 hours of command time on a multi-crew, multi-engine commercial jet aircraft with a Maximum Take-Off Weight (MTOW) exceeding 50 tonnes. Of this, a minimum of 1,500 hours must be as a Captain on an Airbus FBW Wide Body aircraft.
• A minimum of 150 hours flown on the relevant aircraft type within the last 12 months.
• Possession of a valid ICAO Air Transport Pilot License (ATPL) coupled with a matching Authority Class 1 Medical Certificate.
• Demonstrated ICAO English Language Proficiency Level 5 or above.
