Summary
The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), Operations Division-Aviation Division is seeking a skilled Airplane Pilot to provide aviation support for detecting, locating, identifying, and assessing illicit narcotics-related trafficking activities. This role involves operating multi-engine fixed-wing aircraft for various operational and intelligence support missions across domestic and international locations.
About the Role
As an Airplane Pilot, responsibilities include the operation of multi-engine fixed-wing aircraft for transporting cargo, equipment, and personnel. This encompasses critical missions such as air/ground surveillance, air photography, fugitive transport, airborne reconnaissance, emergency evacuations, and sensitive cargo transport. The incumbent will offer expert aviation advice to DEA management, conduct thorough pre-flight, in-flight, and post-flight responsibilities, and perform pre-operational planning for enforcement operations.

Successful completion of E-Verify employment verification.

Males born after 12/31/59 must be registered or exempt from Selective Service.

Will be required to serve a probationary or trial period.

Tentatively selected applicants must submit to urinalysis for illegal drug use.

Must undergo an annual flight physical and an annual DEA standardization check-ride.

Must possess and maintain a valid motor vehicle operator's license.

Successful completion of a flight assessment with a DEA Instructor or Standardization Pilot.
Qualifications
Certificates and Ratings

Hold a current Commercial Pilot Certificate or the appropriate military rating.

Commercial licenses for single and multi-engine fixed-wing aircraft with an instrument rating.

Airline Transport Pilot Certificate is also acceptable.
Flight Hours

Total Flight Time: 1500 hours

Pilot-In-Command: 250 hours

Night Flying: 75 hours

Flying Time, Last 12 Months: 100 hours

Multi-engine Airplane: 500 hours

Instrument: 75 hours (at least 10 in actual instrument weather)
Medical Requirements

Possess a current first or second-class medical certificate in accordance with FAA regulations, dated within the previous 12 months.
Specialized Experience

At least one full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level.

Experience operating multi-engine fixed-wing airplanes over long distances.

Experience in at least one of the following: formulating flight plans, adhering to flight procedures, or conducting detailed post-flight inspections.
