The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Operations Division-Aviation Division is seeking skilled Airplane Pilots to provide critical aviation support for operational and intelligence elements within the DEA and the law enforcement community. This role is based in Fort Worth, Texas, and involves detecting, locating, identifying, and assessing illicit narcotics-related trafficking activities.
About the Role
As an Airplane Pilot, you will operate multi-engine fixed-wing aircraft to transport cargo, equipment, sensitive materials, and personnel. Responsibilities include supporting DEA Special Agents in various airborne operations such as surveillance, photography, reconnaissance, and emergency evacuations. You will also provide expert aviation advice to DEA management, conduct comprehensive pre-flight, in-flight, and post-flight duties, and perform pre-operational planning for enforcement missions.

Possession and maintenance of a valid motor vehicle operator's license.

Successful completion of a flight assessment with a DEA Instructor or Standardization Pilot.
Qualifications
Minimum Eligibility Requirements:

Possession of the appropriate Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) pilot certificates and/or appropriate military ratings.

Meeting applicable flight hour requirements and possessing the necessary knowledge and skills.
Certificates and Ratings:
-
Current Commercial Pilot Certificate or appropriate military rating.

Commercial licenses for single and multi-engine fixed-wing aircraft with an instrument rating.

Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) Certificate is acceptable.
Flight Hours:
-
Total Flight Time: 1500 hours.
-
Pilot-In-Command: 250 hours.
-
Night Flying: 75 hours.
-
Flying Time, Last 12 Months: 100 hours.

Multi-engine Airplane: 500 hours.
-
Instrument: 75 hours (including at least 10 in actual instrument weather).
Medical Requirements:

Current first or second-class medical certificate in accordance with FAA regulations (dated within the previous 12 months).
Flight Assessment:
-
Successful completion of a flight assessment with a DEA Instructor or Standardization Pilot.
Selective Placement Factor (SPF):
-
Possess a Commercial Pilot Certificate or Airline Transport Pilot Certificate (ATP).

Possess a valid First or Second-Class Medical Certificate.
GS-13 Specialized Experience:

At least one full year of qualifying specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level.

Experience must include operating multi-engine fixed-wing airplanes for long distances to various locations.

Must also include at least ONE of the following: formulating flight plans using maps and charts, adhering to flight procedures and parameters, or conducting detailed post-flight inspections.
