The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), Operations Division-Aviation Division is seeking a skilled Airplane Pilot to provide aviation support for operational and intelligence elements within the DEA and the law enforcement community. This role is crucial for detecting, locating, identifying, and assessing illicit narcotics-related trafficking activities.
About the Role

Operate multi-engine fixed-wing airplanes for transporting cargo, equipment, sensitive equipment, and/or personnel.

Transport DEA Special Agents for various missions including air/ground surveillance, air photography, fugitive transport, undercover role enhancement, airborne reconnaissance, emergency evacuation, airborne electronic tracking, sensitive cargo transport, specialized missions, marijuana eradication, and prisoner transport.

Provide expert aviation advice to DEA management and operational personnel regarding aircraft capabilities, limitations, and safety considerations.

Perform comprehensive pre-flight, in-flight, and post-flight responsibilities, including aircraft inspections, fuel planning, weight and balance calculations, equipment and navigational systems checks, risk assessments, and obtaining necessary clearances.

Engage in pre-operational planning of enforcement operations to optimize aviation support.
Requirements

U.S. Citizenship is required.

Successful completion of a background investigation and ability to maintain a security clearance.

Subject to random drug testing.

Successful completion of the E-Verify employment verification check.

Males born after 12/31/59 must be registered or exempt from Selective Service.

Successful completion of a 1-year probationary period or appropriate trial period.

All tentatively selected applicants will be required to undergo urinalysis for illegal drug use prior to appointment.

DEA Pilots must undergo an annual flight physical by a Designated Medical Examiner in compliance with FAA regulations.

Must complete an annual DEA standardization check-ride.

Must possess and maintain a valid motor vehicle operator's license.

Successful completion of a flight assessment with a DEA Instructor or Standardization Pilot.
Qualifications

Possession of a current Commercial Pilot Certificate or appropriate military rating.

Commercial licenses for single and multi-engine fixed-wing aircraft with an instrument rating.

Minimum flight hour requirements:

Total Flight Time: 1500 hours
-
Pilot-In-Command: 250 hours
-
Night Flying: 75 hours
-
Flying Time, Last 12 Months: 100 hours
-
Multi-engine Airplane: 500 hours
-
Instrument: 75 hours (at least 10 in actual instrument weather)

Possession of a current first or second-class medical certificate (dated within the previous 12 months).

Selective Placement Factor (SPF): Must possess a Commercial Pilot Certificate or Airline Transport Pilot Certificate (ATP) and either a valid First or Second-Class Medical Certificate.

GS-13 Level: At least one full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level, demonstrating:

Operating multi-engine fixed-wing airplanes (e.g., Beechcraft King Air 350s and ATR-42/500) over long distances within the United States and internationally.

AND at least ONE of the following:
-
Formulating a flight plan based on map and chart study, including routing, stops, fuel, and estimated time.

Adhering to flight procedures and parameters specified in the airplane flight manual.

Conducting detailed post-flight inspections to identify mechanical discrepancies, system performance issues, or damage.
