The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), Operations Division-Aviation Division is seeking skilled Airplane Pilots to provide critical aviation support for operational and intelligence elements within the DEA and the law enforcement community. This role is based in Fort Worth, Texas, and involves detecting, locating, identifying, and assessing illicit narcotics-related trafficking activities through advanced aviation operations.
About the Role

Operate multi-engine fixed-wing airplanes for the transportation of cargo, equipment, sensitive materials, and personnel.

Support DEA Special Agents in various airborne operations including surveillance, photography, fugitive transport, reconnaissance, emergency evacuations, electronic tracking, and specialized missions.

Provide expert aviation advice to DEA management and operational staff concerning aircraft capabilities, limitations, and safety.

Execute comprehensive pre-flight, in-flight, and post-flight responsibilities, including aircraft inspections, fuel planning, weight and balance calculations, systems checks, and risk assessments.

Engage in pre-operational planning for enforcement missions to optimize aviation support.

Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance.

Successful completion of E-Verify employment verification.

Males born after 12/31/59 must be registered or exempt from Selective Service.

Mandatory 1-year probationary period or trial period for performance evaluation.

Requirement to submit to urinalysis for illegal drug use screening prior to appointment.

Annual flight physical by a Designated Medical Examiner in compliance with FAA regulations.

Completion of an annual DEA standardization check-ride as specified in the Aviation Operations Manual (AOM).

Possession and maintenance of a valid motor vehicle operator's license.

Successful completion of a flight assessment with a DEA Instructor or Standardization Pilot.
Qualifications

Possession of a current Commercial Pilot Certificate or Airline Transport Pilot Certificate (ATP).

Possession of a valid First or Second-Class Medical Certificate.

Minimum of 1500 total flight hours.

Minimum of 250 Pilot-In-Command flight hours.

Minimum of 75 night flying hours.

Minimum of 100 flight hours within the last 12 months.

Minimum of 500 multi-engine airplane flight hours.

Minimum of 75 instrument flight hours, with at least 10 logged in actual instrument weather.

At least one full year of specialized experience equivalent to GS-12, demonstrating proficiency in operating multi-engine fixed-wing airplanes over long distances, and experience in one of the following: formulating flight plans, adhering to flight manual procedures, or conducting detailed post-flight inspections.
