Test Director

A leading provider of simulation and training solutions is seeking a highly skilled Test Director to contribute to the design, development, production, and testing of military aviation training devices. This individual will leverage their operational military multi-engine fixed-wing or rotary wing experience to ensure the highest standards of system verification and validation. The Test Director will build, lead, and execute comprehensive system test plans to confirm that project requirements are met before customer acceptance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the Test Director for complex military aviation simulation projects.
  • Act as a Project Pilot and Subject Matter Expert (SME), providing critical operational expertise.
  • Establish and develop training programs for departmental pilots.
  • Contribute to research and development initiatives.
  • Participate in project meetings and reviews, representing the program as a subject matter expert.
  • Lead formal customer reviews, including authoring, coordinating, and presenting findings.
  • Support new business activities by performing training task analysis, training media analysis, and technical specification reviews.
  • Respond to Requests for Proposals (RFPs) and provide crucial operational input during the proposal stage.
  • Provide support for Program Managers as needed.
  • Demonstrate clear understanding of all requirements for assigned projects.
  • Provide support to marketing teams for prospective projects.
  • Lead all testing activities.

Qualifications and Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree and/or equivalent experience in military aviation or simulation engineering required.
  • Minimum of 6 years of operational military aviation experience is essential.
  • Instructor Pilot or Maintenance Test/FCF Pilot experience is highly desirable.
  • F16 experience is advantageous.
  • Must possess or be eligible for a Department of Defense Personal Security Clearance.

Preferred Skills:

  • Ability to apply technical knowledge to diagnose issues with simulated or actual aircraft systems during testing and development.
  • Commercial Rotary Wing and Instrument licenses are preferred.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English are mandatory.
  • Strong analytical and technical abilities are required.
  • Proven ability to isolate and troubleshoot faults.
  • Familiarity with and ability to operate simulation training devices.
  • Demonstrated leadership and communication skills to effectively collaborate with Engineering, Customers, and Operations Staff.

Security Responsibilities:

The candidate must adhere to all company security and data protection policies. They will be personally responsible for the proper handling of all information and will not divulge information outside company without management approval.

Additional Requirements:

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen due to U.S. Government contract requirements.
  • This position involves sitting for extended periods.
  • The role requires the ability to climb stairs.
  • Travel within the U.S. and internationally for extended periods, including routine travel for site modifications and installations (up to 50%), is required.
  • The position operates in a professional office environment using standard office equipment.
  • The candidate should anticipate a moderate level of work-related stress due to technical and scheduling issues.
  • Extended work hours and occasional 2nd or 3rd shift assignments are possible.
