Test Director - Aviation Simulation

CAE, a global leader in training and simulation, seeks a highly experienced Test Director to contribute to the design, development, and testing of advanced military aviation simulation training devices. This pivotal role demands a professional with extensive operational military multi-engine fixed-wing or rotary-wing experience. The Test Director will lead the creation and execution of comprehensive system test plans, ensuring project requirements are thoroughly verified and validated before client acceptance.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the primary Test Director for military aviation simulation projects.
  • Act as a Project Pilot and Subject Matter Expert (SME), providing critical insights and guidance.
  • Develop and implement training programs for departmental pilots.
  • Contribute to Research and Development (R&D) initiatives.
  • Actively participate in project meetings and reviews, offering expert guidance on assigned programs. This includes Project Team Meetings, Internal Program Reviews, and Customer Reviews, where the Test Director will author, coordinate, and lead formal presentations.
  • Support new business development efforts, performing tasks such as Training Task Analysis, Training Media Analysis, technical specification reviews, and contributing to Responses to Request for Proposal (RFP).
  • Provide expert support to Program Managers.
  • Lead and manage all testing activities, ensuring a clear understanding of project requirements.
  • Offer operational input during the proposal stage of projects and support marketing efforts for prospective initiatives.
  • Apply aviation and technical expertise to troubleshoot simulated and actual aircraft systems during testing and development.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and/or equivalent experience in military aviation or simulation engineering is required.
  • A minimum of 6 years of operational military aviation experience is mandatory.
  • Instructor Pilot or Maintenance Test/FCF Pilot experience is highly desirable.
  • C130J experience is highly valued.
  • Must possess or be eligible for a Department of Defense (DoD) Personal Security Clearance.
  • Strong analytical and technical abilities, with the capacity to isolate and troubleshoot faults.
  • Familiarity and operational proficiency with simulation training devices.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills to effectively collaborate with Engineering, Customers, and Operations Staff.
  • Proficiency in both written and verbal English communication.

Preferred Skills:

  • Commercial Rotary wing and Instrument licenses are preferred.

Additional Requirements:

  • Adherence to all company security and data protection policies.
  • Ability to travel both domestically and internationally (CONUS and OCONUS) for extended periods, supporting project work and site modifications (up to 50% travel).
  • Ability to sit for extended periods, climb stairs, and function effectively in a professional office setting.
  • Ability to manage work-related stress associated with technical, schedule, and customer issues.
  • Flexibility to work extended hours and occasional 2nd or 3rd shift assignments.
  • U.S. Citizenship is required due to U.S. Government contract stipulations.
