Job Overview: Air Traffic Services Instructor

CAE is seeking experienced Air Traffic Services (ATS) Instructors to join a pioneering air traffic services division in Montreal. Through a partnership with NAV CANADA, CAE instructors will deliver initial training for Flight Service Specialists and Air Traffic Controllers. This role involves utilizing NAV CANADA’s established curriculum to develop a highly proficient workforce at CAE’s new purpose-built Air Traffic Services Training Center.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver classroom instruction and simulator briefings in alignment with CAE standards.
  • Conduct simulator sessions in accordance with customer Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Serve as an invigilator for theoretical examinations, simulator examinations, and progress checks.
  • Maintain accurate client training records to ensure seamless transitions between instructors.
  • Recommend remedial training for clients not meeting progress benchmarks.
  • Document simulator usage and technical discrepancies using established procedures.
  • Participate in ongoing update or refresher training related to ATS and instructional principles.
  • Act as a subject matter expert to contribute to the continuous improvement of curricula, courseware, and training processes.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Successful completion of minimum qualification and experience requirements approved by Transport Canada for ATS Instructors.
  • Working knowledge of ICAO and/or Transport Canada Air Traffic Control regulations.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in an Air Traffic Services operational position.
  • Demonstrated passion for training and talent development.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain a customer-oriented focus in high-pressure situations.
  • Commitment to quality, continuous process improvement, and customer satisfaction.
  • Ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Fluency in English and/or French (instruction is delivered based on language proficiency).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience working in Canada as a Flight Service Specialist, Tower Controller, or Instrument Flight Rules (IFR) Controller.
  • Prior experience working in an instructional role.
  • Current instructor qualification issued by a recognized Regulatory Authority.
