Description
The Air Traffic Services Instructor is responsible for delivering classroom and simulator‑based instruction for the generic initial Air Traffic Services (ATS) training programs in alignment with regulatory and customer requirements. Under a first‑of‑its‑kind partnership in Canada, CAE instructors will deliver initial training for Flight Service Specialists and Air Traffic Controllers using NAV CANADA’s curriculum and courseware. Training will take place at the new purpose‑built Air Traffic Services Training Center on CAE’s campus in Montreal.
Responsibilities include:
+ Conduct classroom training and simulator briefings in a thorough and professional manner in accordance with CAE standards.
+ Deliver simulator sessions following customer Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
+ Act as invigilator for theoretical examinations, simulator examinations, and progress checks.
+ Accurately complete all required client training records to ensure trainee progress is clearly documented and instructor handovers are seamless.
+ Recommend remedial training when a trainee is not achieving required progress milestones.
+ Record simulator usage and discrepancies in accordance with established procedures.
+ Participate in update or refresher training on ATS or instructional principles, as required.
+ Serve as a subject matter expert contributing to continuous improvement of curricula, courseware, and training processes.
Minimum Qualifications
+ Successful completion of the minimum qualification and experience requirements approved by Transport Canada to act as an Air Traffic Service Instructor prior to delivering ATS content.
+ Working knowledge of ICAO or Transport Canada Air Traffic Control regulations.
+ Minimum of 3 years of experience in an Air Traffic Services operational position.
+ Strong passion for training and developing talent.
+ Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
+ Ability to maintain strong customer focus under adverse circumstances.
+ Strong emphasis on quality, with continuous drive for process improvement and customer satisfaction.
+ Ability to concentrate and work effectively in a fast‑paced environment.
+ Flexibility and adaptability to changing operational needs.
+ Fluency in English and/or French (instruction is delivered in the language(s) of instructor’s proficiency).
Preferred Qualifications
+ Prior experience as a Flight Service Specialist, Tower Controller, or Instrument Flight Rules (IFR) Controller in Canada.
+ Previous instructional experience.
+ Current instructor qualification issued by a Regulatory Authority.
