Air Traffic Services Instructor
CAE is seeking experienced Flight Service Specialist Instructors to contribute to its innovative air traffic services division. This role involves training the next generation of Flight Service Specialists (FSS) and Air Traffic Controllers (ATC) through a unique partnership with NAV CANADA, utilizing NAV CANADA's training curriculum and courseware. The collaboration between CAE and NAV CANADA aims to enhance air traffic management by developing a proficient workforce.
The Air Traffic Services Instructor is responsible for delivering classroom and simulator-based instruction for initial ATC or FSS training programs, adhering to regulatory and customer requirements.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct classroom training and simulator briefings professionally, aligned with CAE standards.
- Execute simulator sessions according to customer Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Invigilate theoretical and simulator examinations, as well as progress checks.
- Maintain accurate and comprehensive client training records for seamless instructor handovers.
- Recommend remedial training for clients who require additional support.
- Record simulator usage and discrepancies accurately.
- Participate in update and refresher training on ATS and instructional principles.
- Serve as a subject matter expert for continuous improvement of curricula, courseware, and training processes.
Qualifications:
- Successful completion of Transport Canada's minimum qualification and experience requirements for Air Traffic Service Instructors before delivering ATS content.
- Working knowledge of Transport Canada Air Traffic Control regulations.
- Minimum of three years of experience in an Air Traffic Services operational position.
- Demonstrated passion for training and fostering talent.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to maintain strong customer orientation in challenging situations.
- Strong focus on quality, with a drive for process improvement and customer satisfaction.
- Ability to concentrate and perform effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Adaptability to accept changes and adjust accordingly.
- Fluency in English and/or French, as instruction will be delivered in either language based on proficiency.
Desired Qualifications:
- Prior experience as a Flight Service Specialist, Tower Controller, or Instrument Flight Rules Controller in Canada.
- Previous experience as an instructor.
- Existing instructor qualification issued by a Regulatory Authority.
