Pilot in Command (PIC) - OCONUS Government Contract
Job Summary
Berry Aviation, Inc. seeks a highly qualified Pilot in Command (PIC) to serve on assigned aircraft for a government contract. This crucial role involves conducting operations in Outside Continental United States (OCONUS) locations, providing essential passenger and cargo transport, casualty evacuation, and aerial delivery support to the government client within austere environments. The incumbent is directly responsible for the safe and efficient execution of all assigned flights.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute comprehensive flight plans based on mission objectives, weather conditions, operating procedures, and special instructions.
- Ensure meticulous preparation of flight plans, considering critical factors such as altitude, terrain, weather patterns, aircraft range, weight limitations, cruise control data, airport facilities, and navigational aids.
- Oversee the release of all flights in strict adherence to FAR Part 135 guidelines, ensuring all necessary documentation is onboard for legal and safe flight completion.
- Verify that all required airworthiness inspections have been completed and that any identified discrepancies have been rectified or appropriately deferred in accordance with the applicable Minimum Equipment List (MEL).
- Conduct thorough preflight inspections of the aircraft and perform comprehensive preflight preparations, including a detailed risk assessment for each flight.
- Execute assigned flights precisely, adhering to schedules, designated routes, and load manifests.
- Promote and ensure the practice of Crew Resource Management (CRM) among all crew members, providing thorough briefings on flight particulars, any deviations from original plans, passenger/cargo loads, aircraft condition, and operating environment specifics.
- Maintain regular communication with on-site management regarding flight safety, aircraft maintenance status, life support, customer concerns, and personnel matters.
Qualifications
Required:
- First Class Medical Certificate.
- Minimum of 1,200 flight hours in multi-engine turbine aircraft.
- Minimum of 2,000 Pilot in Command (PIC) flight hours.
- Minimum of 500 PIC flight hours in multi-engine aircraft.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance at the Secret level (U.S. citizenship is mandatory).
Preferred:
- Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) certificate with appropriate category, class, and type ratings for the aircraft operated.
- Minimum of 3,000 total flight hours.
- Demonstrated experience in aerial delivery training.
- Experience with Night Vision Goggle (NVG) operations.
- Current and active U.S. Security Clearance at the Secret level.
- At least one year of experience as a FAR Part 135 pilot.
- At least one year of experience in government contracting operations within OCONUS austere environments.
Education Requirements
- Minimum: High School Diploma or GED.
- Preferred: Undergraduate Degree.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds.
- Capacity to perform aircraft piloting duties for up to 10 hours per day.
- Willingness to work outdoors and be exposed to a wide variety of weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, and adverse weather.
