Job Responsibilities:
- Serve as Pilot-In-Command (PIC) and/or Ground Station Operator (GSO) for unmanned aircraft during comprehensive ground and flight tests and demonstrations.
- Plan, execute, and meticulously report on engineering and experimental test flights of newly developed aircraft and systems.
- Lead the coordination of NOTAMS, test/demo site preparation and approvals, and secure any additional required clearances.
- Demonstrate a steadfast commitment to safety, effectiveness, and efficiency in test planning and execution, applying crew resource management principles in collaboration with the test crew, telemetry engineers, ATC, chase/photo aircraft, etc.
- Provide valuable recommendations regarding the operational effectiveness of systems, aircraft handling qualities, and design improvements based on rigorous testing.
- Maintain accurate pilot logs, aircraft maintenance records, and configuration logs.
- Actively contribute as a positive and constructive team member, ensuring successful program goals are met through unified effort.
- Serve as a trusted consultant to management and represent Bell effectively as an external spokesperson on significant matters and programs.
- Embrace and perform additional tasks and responsibilities as required.
Position Requirements:
- A Bachelor's Degree in a technical field is mandatory.
- Graduation from a recognized test pilot school, preferably with a specialization in UAS curriculum, is highly desirable.
- At least 200 hours of manned and/or unmanned pilot experience, including 100 PIC hours, is required.
- Equivalent university level education, training, and experience in UAS operations may be considered in lieu of the stated pilot hours.
- Minimum 2 years of proven experience in experimental flight test planning, execution, data analysis, and reporting.
- A current FAA Third Class Medical certificate or higher is essential.
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally for flight test and demonstration activities is mandatory.
- The ability to obtain a secret security clearance is required.
- A valid US Driver License is necessary.
- U.S. citizenship or US Person status is a requirement.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience flying UAS larger than 55 pounds is highly advantageous.
- An FAA Private Pilot certificate or higher with a current instrument rating is preferred.
