As we continue in this great service, we're happy to say that we're looking for an additional Captain to fly our Falcon 7X. Captains at BD are responsible for the safe conduct of flights to which they are assigned. Captains report directly to the Chief Pilot. The Captain holds ultimate responsibility for the safe operation of the aircraft. Captains must adhere to all federal, state, local, and international regulations, along with the policies and procedures outlined in the company operations manual. Captains serve as the company’s primary representative to the passengers and must conduct themselves with tact and decorum while maintaining an efficient and safe operation. Job Responsibilities The duties of a Captain include: Acting as pilot in command (PIC) of flights for which the pilot has been scheduledProviding excellent customer service to passengersFollowing schedules and other directives governing the aircraft’s operationEnsuring that preflight inspections are performedStudying weather conditions at destination, enroute, alternate airports, and departure pointsPreparing flight plansEnsuring that the aircraft is clean and prepared for flight with all provisions on board for the safety and comfort of the passengersReviewing and calculating the aircraft weight and balance, fuel on board, and performance chartsManaging the SIC (second in command) in all responsibilities needed to ensure the smooth, safe, and efficient operation of the aircraftCoordinating the functioning of all crewmembers assigned to the flightManaging and communicating with crew, and other team members, while maintaining the highest levels of integrity and CRM, in alignment with the BD WayEnsuring that aircraft operations are in accordance with BD Aviation Flight Operations Manual and Standard Operating Procedures, including strict adherence to checklists by all crew membersParticipating in the Safety Management System by crafting a flight risk analysis for all flight segments. Filing safety reports as needed and helping maintain a positive safety culture.Monitoring crew performance, sharing knowledge with crewmembers, and evaluating crewmember potential for advancementMaking decisions necessary to start, delay, or cancel flights and deviate the flight from planned route or destination when operating conditions dictate Required Skills: Flight training received through an FAA-approved school or training programTwo (2) years of recent background as a pilot in Corporate AviationFAA Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) rating with appropriate aircraft and type ratingsFAA 1st class medical certificateFCC Restricted Radiotelephone Operator PermitPosition is based out of Morristown, NJ, and the ideal candidate should be within approximately 1.5 hour driving distance of the base Preferred Skills: At least two (2) years of college education; an Associate’s Degree or a Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience is preferred5,000 hours of total flight experience including 3,000 hours serving as PIC, with 1,500 hours in turbine-powered aircraft is preferred.Flight experience in Falcon 7X or 8X preferredInternational flight experience preferred Must be able to pass/provide the following: BD initiated check ridePre-employment drug testBackground checkFBI fingerprintingProvide copy of all training certifications Knowledge and Skills Ability to work independently and in a team environmentWorking knowledge of Microsoft OfficeAbility to quickly adapt, learn new technology, new concepts, and apply them as neededStrong analytical/problem-solving skillsSolid communication and interpersonal skillsOutstanding customer service skills At BD, we prioritize on-site collaboration because we believe it fosters creativity, innovation, and effective problem-solving, which are essential in the fast-paced healthcare industry.
