Job Description
BD is seeking an experienced Captain for International and Domestic Flight Operations to join our esteemed aviation team. For 75 years, BD has been flying in support of its global business operations. The Captain will be responsible for the safe conduct of assigned flights, reporting directly to the Chief Pilot. This role holds ultimate responsibility for the safe operation of the aircraft, requiring adherence to all federal, state, local, and international regulations, as well as company policies and procedures. The Captain serves as the primary company representative to passengers, maintaining tact, decorum, and ensuring an efficient and safe operation.
Responsibilities
- Act as pilot in command (PIC) for scheduled flights.
- Provide excellent customer service to passengers.
- Follow schedules and directives governing aircraft operation.
- Perform preflight inspections.
- Study weather conditions at destination, enroute, alternate airports, and departure points.
- Prepare flight plans.
- Ensure the aircraft is clean and prepared for flight with all provisions for passenger safety and comfort.
- Review and calculate aircraft weight and balance, fuel on board, and performance charts.
- Manage the SIC (second in command) in all aspects of smooth, safe, and efficient aircraft operation.
- Coordinate the functioning of all assigned crewmembers.
- Manage and communicate with crew and team members, maintaining integrity and CRM in alignment with the BD Way.
- Ensure aircraft operations comply with the BD Aviation Flight Operations Manual and Standard Operating Procedures, including strict adherence to checklists.
- Participate in the Safety Management System by crafting flight risk analyses and filing safety reports as needed to maintain a positive safety culture.
- Monitor crew performance, share knowledge, and evaluate crewmember potential for advancement.
- Make decisions to start, delay, or cancel flights, and deviate from planned routes or destinations based on operating conditions.
Required Qualifications
- Flight training received through an FAA-approved school or training program.
- Two (2) years of recent experience as a pilot in Corporate Aviation.
- FAA Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) rating with appropriate aircraft and type ratings.
- FAA 1st class medical certificate.
- FCC Restricted Radiotelephone Operator Permit.
- Position is based out of Morristown, NJ; candidates should reside within approximately 1.5 hours driving distance of the base.
Preferred Qualifications
- At least two (2) years of college education; an Associate’s Degree or a Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience is preferred.
- 5,000 hours of total flight experience, including 3,000 hours serving as PIC, with 1,500 hours in turbine-powered aircraft is preferred.
- Flight experience in Falcon 7X or 8X is preferred.
- International flight experience is preferred.
Pre-employment Requirements
- Ability to pass a BD initiated check ride.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test.
- Ability to pass a background check.
- Ability to pass FBI fingerprinting.
- Ability to provide a copy of all training certifications.

Salary Range: $160,900.00 - $265,400.00 USD Annual
