Job Overview: Plane Captain
The Plane Captain is responsible for comprehensive aircraft handling, servicing, and inspection duties. This role ensures the operational readiness and safety of aircraft through meticulous daily and turn-around inspections, technical assistance, and expert guidance. The successful candidate will facilitate flight line operations, providing essential support to maintain high standards of safety and efficiency.
Essential Responsibilities

Perform duties of Aircraft Washer and Plane Captain Helper as required.

Conduct daily and turn-around inspections in accordance with established procedures.

Prepare and complete all required maintenance documentation.

Execute aircraft fuel sampling and servicing operations.

Manage aircraft launch and recovery, serving as the taxi director.

Perform aircraft towing and act as a brake rider when necessary.

Execute aircraft tie-down and cover procedures.

Provide technical assistance, guidance, and instruction.

Operate two-way communication equipment.

Ensure strict compliance with Foreign Object Damage (FOD), Hazardous Waste, Egress Familiarization, Tool Control, and industrial safety programs.

Maintain security and preservation of company and government equipment.

Deliver professional customer service and operate firefighting equipment.
Minimum Requirements

High School Diploma or equivalent.

Minimum of two (2) years of experience in aviation maintenance or flight line operations.

Valid Driver’s License.

Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English, following verbal and written instructions.

Thorough knowledge of safety and maintenance manuals, flight line operations, aircraft handling, marshaling, and common hand tools.

Physical ability to climb, bend, crawl, kneel, and lift/push/pull up to 70 pounds.

Visual acuity including color vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment; normal hearing range.

Must successfully complete a certified plane captain training program and maintain semi-annual re-qualification.

Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a Secret US Government Clearance (US Citizenship required).

Prior military personnel must provide a member 4 DD214 with an Honorable discharge.

Must be qualified on all assigned aircraft types and available for all shifts and schedules.
Preferred Qualifications

Direct experience with F-18 (A-F), EA-18G, E-2C, F-16, and/or MH60 aircraft.

Certification in Hazardous Waste Communications, FOD/TCP Awareness, ISO 9001-2000, and Operational Risk Management.

Licensure for support equipment, including tow tractors, nitrogen/engine wash carts, and engine start units.

Capability to use respirators and perform tasks requiring high manual dexterity.
Compensation and Benefits
Hourly Rate:
$50.66 (set by Collective Bargaining Agreement).
