About the Role

The Synthetic Flight Instructor (SFI) serves as a pivotal ground-based managerial position within the Flight Crew Training Department. This role is designed for a seasoned professional pilot who will conceptualize, develop, and deliver high-quality simulated flight instruction courses. The SFI is instrumental in providing Type Rating (TR) and Multi-Crew Cooperation (MCC) training to Air France pilots, as well as to external clients, including other airlines and private individuals.

Key Responsibilities

The Synthetic Flight Instructor (SFI) will be responsible for a range of critical instructional duties, including but not limited to:

  • Delivering comprehensive simulated flight instruction to pilots and/or instructors in training, utilizing various Flight Simulator Training Devices (FSTD).
  • Conducting courses and lectures focused on jet aircraft familiarization.
  • Providing instruction for Multi-Crew Cooperation (MCC) training.
  • Leading pre-Type Rating (pre-TR) and Type Rating (TR) courses.
  • Contributing to the training and development of future instructors.

Candidate Profile and Qualifications

The ideal candidate for this demanding role will possess a robust background in aviation and demonstrate exceptional instructional capabilities. Essential qualifications include:

  • A minimum of 1500 hours of flight time accrued as a pilot on multi-pilot aircraft.
  • Current or previous holding of a Commercial Pilot License (CPL), Multi-Pilot License (MPL), or Airline Transport Pilot License (ATPL).
  • Prior experience as a Synthetic Flight Instructor (SFI) or Type Rating Instructor (TRI) is highly desirable, particularly with experience on Airbus A220, A320, A350, or A330 aircraft types.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in English, evidenced by a minimum B1 level or a TOEIC score of 550 (valid for 18 months). An official certificate will be required.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to engage and build rapport.
  • A strong aptitude for motivating and inspiring trainees.
  • Proficiency in IT tools is considered an advantage.
  • A minimum of an Associate's Degree (Bac + 2) or equivalent educational qualification is required.

Working Conditions

This position involves non-administrative, shift-based working hours, which are directly aligned with the pilot training schedule. The primary location for SFI activities will be at the Air France facility in Roissy Charles de Gaulle (CDG), France.
