Airline Pilot
An airline pilot is responsible for conducting assigned flights in accordance with the Airline Operational Manual and relevant civil aviation authority regulations. The pilot ensures the utmost safety, security, and efficiency throughout all operated flights. He or she supports and guides the flight and cabin crew, effectively handles emergencies and unexpected situations, and maintains control over the flight to ensure successful performance and a positive corporate image.
Key Responsibilities:
- Pilots assigned aircraft from one destination to another, adhering to schedules and approved flight plans, prioritizing safety, efficiency, and passenger comfort.
- Ensures all flights are conducted according to the Airline's Operations Manual and regulations, implementing and maintaining procedures for safe and smooth aircraft operation.
- Verifies timely attendance, appropriate grooming, fitness, and legality of self and Flight Crew. Conducts pre-flight briefings to ensure crew members are informed of flight details and that briefings are properly executed before each action.
- Liaises with co-pilots and the Dispatch Team before each flight, ensuring flight/cabin crew members are well-prepared and provided with necessary information, including aircraft technical status, route preferences, weather, fuel, weight, and distribution of roles.
- Ensures the aircraft is flown in a manner that maximizes fuel efficiency while adhering to safety regulations.
- Ensures the Flight/Cabin crew conducts required safety, security, fuel, and transit checks for each flight before, during, and after. Takes necessary action and directs the crew on how to react in case of safety or security irregularities, escalating issues when necessary.
- Collaborates with Maintenance Engineers to confirm the aircraft's technical status and ensure its suitability for flight. Seeks support from MCC and MROs to raise concerns and identify defects or technical issues, implementing immediate corrective measures when applicable.
- Ensures all necessary documents and technical logs are accurately completed according to Airline and civil aviation authority regulations, including the technical logbook, journey book, and boarding sheets.
- Ensures the Airline Operations Manual is distributed, accounted for, maintained, updated, understood, and complied with by Flight Crew.
- Remains current with the legal requirements of regulatory bodies, including civil aviation authorities and Airbus, relating to flights and Flight Crew.
- Undertakes additional ground-based tasks, such as Safety Officer or Security Officer duties, as directed by the line manager and in accordance with the Airline’s Operations Manual.
Qualifications:
- Must possess an appropriate ATPL License.
- Must pass the technical/psychometric assessment for Pilots as per the Airline and civil aviation authority standards.
- Must pass the Medical Fitness check-up carried for the Pilots as per the Airline and civil aviation authority standards.
- Essential training in safety and emergency response; formal qualification is an advantage.
- Advantageous to have basic airport, security procedures, and regulations training.
- Crew Resources Management Training is considered an advantage.
- IATA principles and standards relating to security are an advantage.
- Proficient in Aircraft systems and Microsoft Office.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including technical report writing and presentations.
- Excellent English language skills; proficiency in local languages of the country of employment is an advantage.
Experience:
- Minimum of 4000 hours of flying experience required; experience with Airbus 320 preferred.
- Experience with a low-cost airline is highly desirable.
- Acceptable industry knowledge in aircraft systems and operating procedures.
- Knowledge and experience to handle delegated roles, such as security or safety-related roles, as required by the Airline and civil aviation authority regulations.
- Exposure to QA/Safety/Security/Audit procedures and practices related to Flight Operations.
- Capable of implementing policies, procedures, and manuals as per approved standards and regulations.
- Ability to perform effectively in a changing environment with heavy workloads and unexpected situations.
- Composed, self-confident, and focused, capable of handling emergencies and threats efficiently.
- Proven skills in analyzing data, identifying pitfalls, and recommending cost-effective solutions.
- Cost-oriented with effective problem-solving and decision-making skills.
