Airline Pilot
The Airline Pilot conducts assigned flights in accordance with the Airline Operational Manual and relevant civil aviation authority regulations. He/She ensures the safety, security, and efficiency of all operated flights. The pilot supports and guides the flight and cabin crew, effectively handles emergencies, and maintains control of the flight to ensure successful performance and uphold a positive corporate image.
Key Responsibilities:
- Pilots the assigned aircraft according to schedules and approved flight plans, prioritizing safety, efficiency, and passenger comfort.
- Ensures flights adhere to the Airline’s Operations Manual and regulations, implementing procedures for safe aircraft operation.
- Verifies timely attendance, grooming, fitness, and legality of self and flight crew. Conducts pre-flight briefings to ensure crew awareness of flight details.
- Liaises with co-pilots and the Dispatch Team to ensure crew preparedness, providing information on aircraft status, route, weather, fuel, weight, and roles.
- Optimizes fuel efficiency within safety constraints outlined in the Operations Manual.
- Ensures completion of safety, security, fuel, and transit checks by the assigned crew. Directs crew response to irregularities and escalates issues when necessary.
- Collaborates with Maintenance Engineers to confirm aircraft technical status. Seeks support from MCC and MROs to address defects and implement corrective measures.
- Ensures accurate documentation, including technical logbooks, journey books, and reports, complies with airline and civil aviation authority regulations.
- Ensures the Flight Crew receives, understands, and complies with the Airline Operations Manual.
- Stays informed of legal requirements from regulatory bodies, including civil aviation authorities and aircraft manufacturers.
- Undertakes additional ground-based tasks, such as Safety Officer or Security Officer duties, as directed.
Qualifications:
- Must possess a valid ATPL License.
- Must pass technical and psychometric assessments per airline and civil aviation authority standards.
- Must pass medical fitness checks per airline and civil aviation authority standards.
- Essential: Training in safety and emergency response (formal qualification preferred).
- Advantage: Basic Airport, security procedures and regulations training.
- Advantage: Crew Resources Management Training.
- Advantage: Knowledge of IATA security principles and standards.
- Proficient in aircraft systems and Microsoft Office.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including technical report writing and presentations.
- Excellent English language skills (proficiency in local languages of the country of employment is an advantage).
Work Experience:
- Minimum of 4000 hours of aircraft flying experience (Airbus 320 experience preferred).
- Experience with low-cost airlines is highly desirable.
- Acceptable industry knowledge of aircraft systems and operating procedures.
- Knowledge and exposure to security or safety-related roles as required.
- Exposure to QA/Safety/Security/Audit procedures and practices related to flight operations.
- Proven ability to implement policies, procedures, and manuals.
- Ability to perform in a changing environment with heavy workloads.
- Composed, self-confident, and focused, capable of handling emergencies efficiently.
- Proven skills in data analysis, identifying pitfalls, and recommending cost-effective solutions.
