Aviation Professional - Flight Operations
Important Information: This position is exclusively open to UAE nationals possessing a valid Khulasat Al-Qaid.
Job Purpose
The Aviation Professional is responsible for conducting assigned flights in strict accordance with Air Arabia's Operational Manual and all relevant GCAA/CAA regulations. This role ensures the highest standards of safety, security, and efficiency are maintained throughout all flight operations. The professional will support and guide flight and cabin crew, effectively manage emergencies and unforeseen scenarios, and maintain ultimate control of the flight to ensure successful performance and uphold the company's positive corporate image.
Key Result Responsibilities
- Operates Air Arabia aircraft between destinations, adhering to flight schedules and approved flight plans. The individual acts as the ultimate authority and responsible party for the aircraft during assigned flights, prioritizing key factors in the following order:
- Safety
- Efficiency
- Passenger Comfort
- Ensures all flights are conducted in strict adherence to the provisions of the Air Arabia Operations Manual and applicable regulations. Continuously implements, monitors, and maintains procedures essential for the safe and smooth operation of the aircraft.
- Confirms timely attendance, impeccable grooming, and fitness for duty for self and all flight crew members for assigned flights. Conducts thorough pre-flight briefings to ensure crew awareness of flight details, consistently verifying that briefings are properly executed before each action as per established procedures.
- Collaborates with First Officers, Second Officers, and the Dispatch Team before each flight to ensure flight and cabin crew members are well-prepared and equipped with necessary information, including aircraft technical status, route details, weather forecasts, fuel requirements, weight and balance, and role distribution.
- Within the defined safety parameters of the Air Arabia Operations Manual, pilots the aircraft to optimize fuel efficiency and effectiveness during flight.
- Verifies that required safety, security, fuel, and transit checks are performed by assigned flight and cabin crew members before, during, and after each flight. Takes decisive action and directs crew responses in the event of safety or security irregularities, escalating as necessary.
- Cooperates with Maintenance Engineers to confirm aircraft technical status and airworthiness. Liaises with the Maintenance Control Centre (MCC) and Maintenance Repair Organisations (MROs) to report and address any defects or technical issues, implementing rectification measures promptly.
- Ensures all necessary documentation and technical logs, including the technical logbook, journey book, boarding sheets, and reports, are accurately completed and loaded with essential data, complying with Air Arabia and GCAA/CAA regulations and adopted procedures.
- Guarantees the distribution, accountability, maintenance, and up-to-date status of the Air Arabia Operations Manual, ensuring it is understood and complied with by all flight crew.
- Maintains current knowledge of legal requirements from various regulatory bodies, including Civil Aviation authorities, GCAA/CAA, Airbus, and other relevant entities pertaining to flights and flight crew operations.
- Undertakes supplementary ground-based duties, such as Safety Officer or Security Officer, as directed by the Head of Flight Operations and in accordance with Part A of the Air Arabia Operations Manual.
Qualifications
- Academic & Training:
- A relevant Commercial Pilot License (CPL) is mandatory; an Airline Transport Pilot License (ATPL) is preferred.
- Successful completion of technical and psychometric assessments for Pilots as per Air Arabia/GCAA/CAA standards.
- Successful completion of the Medical Fitness check-up for Pilots as per Air Arabia/GCAA/CAA standards.
- Essential training in safety and emergency response; a formal qualification is advantageous.
- Basic training in airport security procedures and regulations is an advantage.
- Crew Resource Management (CRM) training is considered an advantage.
- Familiarity with IATA principles and standards relating to security is an advantage.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in aircraft systems.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Internet, and Web Search tools.
- Communication Skills:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in technical report writing and presentations.
Work Experience
- Valid Instrument Rating (IR).
- Valid Medical Certificate.
- Experience flying commercial airlines is preferred.
- Experience with low-cost carriers is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated industry knowledge of aircraft systems and operating procedures.
- Possesses the requisite knowledge and experience to undertake delegated roles, such as security or safety functions, as required by Air Arabia and GCAA/CAA regulations.
- Exposure to Quality Assurance (QA), Safety, Security, and Audit procedures and practices relevant to Flight Operations.
- Capable of implementing policies, procedures, and manuals in accordance with approved standards and regulations.
