Chief Pilot, Aviation Leadership and Flight Operations Management

This executive role mandates exceptional leadership and deep expertise in aviation regulatory frameworks. The Chief Pilot ensures the rigorous maintenance of operational safety and standardization across the entire flight crew and fleet.

Job Purpose

The Chief Pilot is a pivotal executive leadership position responsible for the comprehensive oversight and management of all flight operations activities. This role mandates the establishment and enforcement of policies, rules, and standardized procedures to guarantee the safe, efficient, and smooth operation of the fleet, maintaining strict adherence to Company standards and all applicable General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) Regulations.

Key Responsibilities and Operational Oversight

The successful candidate will be accountable for strategic operational standardization and crew resource management, including the following key result areas:

  • Serves as the primary liaison between senior management and flight crews, ensuring clear, timely communication regarding critical operational concerns, safety imperatives, and crew welfare requirements.
  • Provides executive leadership, supervision, and professional management for all flight crew members, ensuring absolute adherence to operational standards, established company protocols, and crew resource management principles.
  • Manages the timely review and revision of the Operations Manuals (Parts A, B, and C), including the prompt issuance of essential temporary amendments, operational instructions, and official notices to the Flight Crew.
  • Conducts comprehensive, regular evaluations of pilot performance, providing constructive feedback necessary for continuous professional development and fleet standardization.
  • Engages proactively with associated departmental leaders (e.g., Maintenance, Human Resources, Ground Operations) to ensure seamless operational coordination and support.
  • Maintains effective regulatory liaison with the GACA and other relevant national and international authorities regarding all Flight Operations subject matters, ensuring ongoing compliance.
  • Oversees quality assurance requirements pertinent to the flight operations area of control, ensuring highly effective management processes are maintained.
  • Drives operational efficiency by effectively monitoring and managing the mandated fuel conservation plan.
  • Ensures that all corrective and preventive actions resulting from internal safety and quality audits are accomplished efficiently and within established timelines.
  • Fulfills all Safety Management System (SMS) responsibilities and obligations as defined within the company's SMS Manual.

Candidate Profile: Qualifications and Experience

Work Experience Requirements

  • A minimum of three (3) years of proven experience within an airline environment, serving in a Chief Pilot or equivalent senior Flight Operations Managerial capacity.
  • Demonstrated extensive knowledge of the GACA regulations and requirements.
  • Strong instructional experience is considered a significant advantage.

Academic and Technical Qualifications

  • Possession of a GACA License is strongly preferred, coupled with current Captain qualification on the Airbus A320 series.
  • A Bachelor's degree in Aeronautics, Aviation Management, or an equivalent field is highly advantageous.
  • Mandatory training in safety protocols and emergency response is essential; formal certification in this area is an advantage.
  • Required training in basic airport security procedures and relevant aviation regulations is essential.
  • Training in IATA principles and standards relating to security is highly desirable.
  • Specialized certification and training in Cost Control, Compliance, Budgeting, and Quality Assurance are highly valued, and some may be conditional for this executive role.
  • Proficiency in utilizing aircraft systems and expert competence in Microsoft Office suite, Internet, and web search functionalities are required.
  • Excellent command of written and verbal communication skills, necessary for technical reports, briefings, and presentations.
  • Fluency in both English and Arabic is considered a strong advantage.
