While this position is initially located in Orlando, FL, successful candidates should anticipate potential assignments to other JetBlue bases including Boston (BOS), Newark (EWR), Fort Lauderdale (FLL), New York (JFK), Los Angeles (LAX), Orlando (MCO), and San Juan (SJU).
Work Schedule and Flexibility
The role of an Inflight Crewmember demands significant flexibility. Schedules and base assignments are determined by operational needs and in seniority order. Applicants must be prepared for non-traditional working hours, including early mornings, late evenings, and overnights. This also encompasses working on weekends and major holidays, such as July 4th, Memorial Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s. Furthermore, a “reserve” schedule is an integral part of this position, requiring readiness to accept flight assignments with very short notice.
Essential Responsibilities
- Ensures the safety and security of customers, crewmembers, and equipment by responding safely and effectively to a broad range of in-flight emergencies.
- Provides outstanding customer service consistently, acting as a direct ambassador of the JetBlue brand.
- Serves as the primary point of contact for customer issues onboard, adeptly finding creative resolutions to ensure satisfaction.
- Performs various duties as outlined in company manuals, upholding operational standards.
- Assists customers with lifting carry-on bags into overhead bins and provides support to disabled customers and unaccompanied minors.
- Promotes and provides the various components of JetBlue’s inflight product, including beverage and snack service, and onboard product sales.
- Actively promotes and upsells buy-onboard products to meet company ancillary revenue goals.
- Maintains continuous engagement with the Company by reading email, paper mail, and intranet communications to enhance safety and service-related responsibilities.
- Utilizes company-issued electronic tablets for processing onboard sales, accessing customer information, and various other essential functions.
Minimum Experience and Qualifications
- Possession of a High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) Diploma.
- Must be at least twenty-one (21) years of age.
- A minimum of two (2) years of customer service experience in a face-to-face environment, demonstrating consistent proactive resolution of customer issues.
- Successful completion of an assessment evaluating job qualifications/characteristics in Customer Service, Dependability, and Safety Orientation using AI- or statistically-based scoring.
- Demonstrated proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English. (For Bilingual roles, successful completion of a Spanish language fluency assessment is required).
- Proven ability to maintain composure and effectiveness in stressful situations.
- Vision corrected to 20/20.
- Successful completion of the JetBlue Airways Inflight Training Program, including Initial Training and Annual Continuous Education Programs.
- Physical capability to comfortably walk down the aircraft aisle while facing forward and backward, fit quickly through the overwing exit, and securely sit in the assigned Flight Attendant jumpseat with seatbelt and shoulder harness fastened without modification.
- Ability to reach six feet three inches (6’3”) without shoes.
- Preparedness to be scheduled away from home for up to five (5) nights and six (6) consecutive days; irregular operations may occasionally cause extended workdays or duty periods.
- Ability to push and pull moveable carts weighing in excess of 250 pounds.
- Knowledge of basic computer and electronic tablet devices.
- Ability to read and comprehend guidance as found in required manuals.
- Strict adherence to JetBlue Inflight Crewmember Uniform Appearance Standards.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team to deliver the JetBlue Experience.
- Availability for varying schedules including reserve duty, weekends, evenings, holidays, and last-minute assignments.
- Upon notification, ability to report to an assigned base location within 2 hours (BOS, FLL, MCO, SJU) or 2 hours and 45 minutes (EWR, JFK, LAX).
- Currently in possession of a U.S. passport or a foreign passport with applicable visas to freely enter and exit, without restrictions, to all JetBlue destinations. All passport holders must have a minimum of 12 months’ validity remaining at the time of application. Travel documents must remain valid throughout all phases of training and employment.
- Successful completion of a ten (10) year background check and pre-employment drug test.
- Legally eligible to work in the country where the position is located. This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship.
Preferred Experience and Qualifications
- Possession of a Bachelor’s degree.
- Two (2) years of customer-facing sales experience.
- Demonstrated ability to function effectively with limited supervisory oversight.
- Possesses a strong passion for delivering quality customer service.
- Prior emergency management experience, such as medical training, law enforcement, or military background.
Crewmember Expectations
- Maintains regular attendance and punctuality.
- Demonstrates the ability and willingness to work a non-traditional schedule, including weekends, holidays, and overnight hours, with potential need for flexible hours and short-notice response.
- Maintains a professional appearance in accordance with company standards.
- When working or traveling on JetBlue flights, and if time permits, all capable crewmembers are expected to assist with light cleaning of the aircraft.
- Exhibits an appropriate organizational fit for the JetBlue culture, embodying the JetBlue values of Safety, Caring, Integrity, Passion, and Fun.
- Promotes JetBlue’s #1 value of safety as a Safety Ambassador, supporting JetBlue’s Safety Management System (SMS) components, Safety Policy, and behavioral standards.
- Identifies safety and/or security concerns, issues, incidents, or hazards and reports them whenever possible through appropriate means, including JetBlue’s confidential reporting systems (Aviation Safety Action Program (ASAP) or Safety Action Report (SAR)).
- Responsible for adhering to all applicable laws, regulations (FAA, OSHA, DOT, etc.), and Company policies, procedures, and risk controls.
- Upholds JetBlue’s safety performance metric goals and understands how they relate to their duties and responsibilities.

- Computer/Electronic Tablet, point of sale device, and other office equipment.

- Galley equipment, including drink trays, snack baskets, and carts.
Work Environment
- Characterized by non-traditional work hours, with shifts covering a flight schedule that operates twenty-four (24) hours a day, seven (7) days a week.
- Requires the ability to work any schedule awarded, including early mornings, late nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Involves being scheduled away from home for up to six (6) consecutive days.
- Mandatory extended workdays may be required during irregular operations.
- Ability to stand for extended periods at a time.
Physical Effort
- Requires moderate physical activity, including handling objects up to 50 pounds occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds frequently.
- Ability to push and pull heavy objects, such as galley equipment, in excess of 250 pounds.
Compensation and Benefits
The base pay range for this position is between $26.03 and $69.90 per hour. Base pay is one component of JetBlue’s comprehensive total compensation package, which may also include access to healthcare benefits, a 401(k) plan and company match, a Crewmember Stock Purchase Plan, short-term and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, free space-available travel on JetBlue, and more.
