About the Role
JetBlue Airways is seeking a First Officer to join its Operations team in Orlando, FL. The First Officer will assist the Pilot in Command in ensuring the safe and consistent operation of flights. This role is integral to providing a positive JetBlue experience for customers and fellow crewmembers, upholding the company's core values of Safety, Caring, Integrity, Passion, and Fun, and maintaining compliance with Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs) and JetBlue policies.

Responsibilities

Assist the Captain in ensuring the safe outcome of each flight in accordance with all Federal Aviation Regulations and Company policies, procedures, and risk controls.

Safely operate the aircraft in accordance with all Federal Aviation Regulations and Company policies and procedures.

Provide an excellent experience for all Customers and uphold the JetBlue values.

Collaborate with fellow JetBlue Crewmembers and/or Business Partners to proactively solve Customer and/or operational challenges.

Maintain required skills, training, and qualifications in accordance with all Federal Aviation Regulations and Company policies and procedures.

Identify and recall JetBlue's Safety Management System (SMS), Safety Policy, Security Policy, and behavioral standards.

Identify and report safety and security concerns, issues, incidents, or hazards through JetBlue’s confidential reporting systems.

Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
-
High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) Diploma.
-
Valid Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) certificate with airplane category and multiengine class ratings (Unrestricted).

1500 hours Total Time (TT), with a minimum of 500 hours in fixed-wing airplanes.

Current FAA First Class Medical Certificate.

Valid Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Radiotelephone Operator's Permit.

Possession of a U.S. passport or U.S. permanent residence card with foreign passport and applicable visas allowing unrestricted entry to all JetBlue destinations. Passports must have a minimum of six (6) months validity remaining at the time of application and throughout training and employment.

Three reference letters from Pilots attesting to the candidate's flying skills.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat Reader, and web browsers, including iOS.

Excellent communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.

Complete and continuous fluency in written and spoken English.

Ability to think creatively.

Adherence to JetBlue Flight Crewmember Uniform Appearance Standards.

Knowledge of basic computer and electronic tablet devices.

Ability to read and comprehend required manuals.

Ability to work collaboratively to deliver the JetBlue Experience.

Willingness to work varying schedules, including reserve duty, weekends, evenings, holidays, and last-minute assignments.

Possession and maintenance of a valid United States Driver’s License and a driving record compliant with JetBlue Insurance Standards.

Successful completion of a ten (10) year background check and pre-employment drug test.

Legal eligibility to work in the country of employment; authorization to work in the US is required and is not eligible for visa sponsorship.
Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree.

Letters of recommendation from current JetBlue Pilots.
-
3500 hours or more in total flight time in aircraft (including turbine helicopter, excluding simulator and Flight Engineer).

Greater than 1,000 hours turbine Pilot in Command (PIC) in fixed-wing aircraft.
-
Greater than 1,000 hours in aircraft utilizing Electronic Flight Instrument Systems (EFIS) and/or Flight Management Systems (FMS).

Recent flying experience (Greater than 200 hours within the last 12 months).
Equipment Operated

Turbojet aircraft.

Computer/Electronic Tablet and other office equipment.
Work Environment

Normal cockpit and ramp exposure per FAA required Pilot duties.

Frequent ascent and descent of jet bridge stairs.

Airport Environment.

Non-traditional work hours, operating twenty-four (24) hours a day, seven (7) days a week, requiring availability for any schedule.

Potential for up to six (6) consecutive days away from home.

Irregular operations may occasionally cause extended workdays.
