Zachry Group | First Officer

Zachry Group, a leading employer in San Antonio, Texas, is seeking a highly skilled and experienced First Officer (FO) / Second in Command (SIC) for its corporate aviation department. This critical role involves the safe and efficient operation of a Citation Sovereign (CE-680) aircraft, ensuring exceptional air transportation under Part 91 regulations.

About the Role

The First Officer reports directly to the Pilot-in-Command (PIC) and is instrumental in all aspects of flight operations, from pre-flight planning to post-flight procedures. This position demands a commitment to safety, discretion, and professionalism, operating within a team-oriented corporate flight department. Key responsibilities include:

• Maintaining a robust safety culture and actively participating in the Safety Management System (SMS).
• Assisting the PIC with critical in-flight and pre-flight decisions, including delays, cancellations, or route deviations.
• Strictly adhering to company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and SMS policies.
• Supporting executive travel with a high standard of passenger service, including baggage handling.
• Ensuring all required training, licenses, certifications, and currency are maintained.
• Collaborating effectively within the aviation team and performing duties as assigned by leadership.

Qualifications

Candidates for the First Officer position must possess a strong aviation background and hold the following:

• Valid FAA First Class Medical Certificate.
• Restricted Radiotelephone Operator Permit.
• Valid U.S. Passport, enabling international travel.
• Valid driver’s license.
• English language proficiency.

Flight Experience (Preferred)

• Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) certificate with multi-engine privileges.
• Type rating in the Citation Sovereign (CE-680).
• Minimum of three years of corporate aviation experience.
• Bachelor’s degree.
• 2,000 hours total flight time.
• 1,000 hours Pilot in Command (PIC).
• 100 hours instrument time.
• 150 hours night time.
• 500 hours turbine time.

Requirements

Successful candidates will also meet the following essential requirements:

• Experience operating multi-crew aircraft.
• Current or previous qualification in turbojet aircraft.
• Clean FAA, DOT, and DOJ records, free from violations or deviations within the past seven years.
• Ability to reside within one hour of San Antonio International Airport (KSAT) or willingness to relocate.
• Availability and willingness to travel frequently, both domestically and internationally.
• Flexibility to work weekends and holidays as operational needs dictate.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to sit for extended periods during flight operations.
• Ability to work effectively in confined cockpit environments.
• Capability to lift up to 50 pounds for passenger baggage assistance.
• Proficiency in communicating via radio, telephone, email, and operational software systems.
