Pilot-in-Command (PIC)

Xcel Energy is seeking a professional Pilot-in-Command (PIC) to join our aviation team. This role is responsible for the safe conduct of assigned flights, operating under the direction of the Chief Pilot, and maintaining final authority over aircraft operations. The successful candidate will ensure full compliance with all federal, state, local, and foreign regulations, as well as company policies and procedures.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Serve as PIC or Second-in-Command (SIC), as assigned.
  • Ensure aircraft airworthiness, including performing preflight inspections, verifying required documentation, and addressing maintenance discrepancies prior to flight.
  • Prepare and file flight plans, calculate weight and balance, and analyze performance charts.
  • Review weather conditions for departure, enroute, destination, and alternate airports.
  • Utilize aircraft checklists and Minimum Equipment Lists (MEL).
  • Supervise air and ground crew members during trip preparation.
  • Ensure passenger safety and comfort, including providing safety briefings on emergency equipment and evacuation procedures.
  • Conduct postflight inspections, record accurate flight times, and report inflight discrepancies for maintenance action.
  • Complete all required aircraft forms, logs, reports, and administrative tasks via the company Learning Management System (LMS).
  • Maintain aviation proficiency through assigned training and independent study.

Minimum Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 3 years of professional pilot experience.
  • Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) license with a multiengine land rating.
  • FCC Restricted Radiotelephone Operator Permit.
  • Type rating in company aircraft or the ability to attend factory training and pass a check-ride to meet FAA 61.58 Pilot Proficiency Exam (PPE) requirements.
  • Minimum of 2000 hours total fixed-wing flight time, 500 hours in turbojet aircraft, and 1000 hours as Pilot-in-Command.
  • Proficiency in English.
  • Valid automobile driver's license and a valid passport.
  • Valid and current FAA Class 1 or Class 2 medical certificate.
  • Knowledge of GOM procedures, SMS, AFM, QRH, and ERP documentation.
  • Strong work ethic, customer service skills, attention to detail, adaptability, and accountability.

Preferred Requirements

  • Associate's degree or higher.
  • Previous corporate aviation experience.
  • Minimum of 3000 hours total fixed-wing flight time, 1000 hours in turbojet aircraft, and 1000 hours as Pilot-in-Command.

Compensation and Benefits

The anticipated starting base pay for this position ranges from $129,000.00 to $183,200.00 per year.
