Xcel Energy is seeking a dedicated and skilled professional to join our Corporate Operations team as an Aircraft Captain. Position Summary

The Aircraft Captain serves as the Pilot-in-Command (PIC) with final authority over the operation of assigned flights. This position operates under the direction of the chief pilot to ensure full compliance with federal, state, local, and foreign regulations, as well as established departmental policies and procedures.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Serve as PIC or Second-in-Command (SIC), providing support to the flight operation as required.
  • Ensure aircraft airworthiness, complete maintenance preflight inspections, verify required documentation is onboard, and address aircraft discrepancies prior to flight.
  • Prepare and file flight plans while reviewing weather conditions and calculating aircraft weight, balance, fuel, and performance data.
  • Utilize aircraft checklists and Minimum Equipment Lists (MEL).
  • Supervise air and ground crews during trip preparation.
  • Provide for the safety and comfort of passengers, including conducting safety briefings and demonstrating emergency and evacuation procedures.
  • Conduct postflight inspections, record flight times, and document maintenance discrepancies.
  • Maintain accurate aircraft forms, logs, reports, and administrative records, including expense accounts and payroll time.
  • Maintain aviation proficiency through assigned training and self-study.

Minimum Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 3 years of professional pilot experience.
  • ATP (Airline Transport Pilot) with multiengine land rating.
  • FCC Restricted Radiotelephone Operator Permit.
  • Valid automobile driver's license and valid passport.
  • Current FAA Class 1 or Class 2 medical certificate.
  • Minimum of 2000 hours total fixed-wing time, 500 hours turbojet, and 1000 hours logged as PIC.
  • Type rating in company aircraft or the ability to attend factory training and pass the FAA 61.58 Pilot Proficiency Exam.
  • Proficiency in English.
  • Knowledge of GOM procedures, SMS, AFM, aircraft QRH, and ERP standards.
  • Strong work ethic, customer service skills, attention to detail, and ability to exercise sound judgment.

Preferred Requirements

  • Associate's degree or higher.
  • Previous corporate flight experience.
  • Minimum of 3000 hours total fixed-wing time, 1000 hours turbojet, and 1000 hours logged as PIC.

Compensation and Benefits

The anticipated starting base pay for this position is $129,000.00 to $183,200.00 per year. Eligible employees receive a comprehensive benefits package, including an annual incentive program, medical, dental, and vision insurance, life and disability insurance, pension and 401(k) plans, tuition reimbursement, and paid time off. Benefits are subject to change.
