Xcel Energy is seeking a dedicated and skilled professional to join our Corporate Operations team as an Aircraft Captain. This role offers an opportunity to work within a leading energy company, providing a challenging environment that fosters professional growth and operational excellence.

Position Summary

The Aircraft Captain serves as the Pilot-in-Command (PIC) responsible for the safe conduct of assigned flights. Operating under the direction of the Chief Pilot, the Captain maintains final authority over aircraft operations. The incumbent ensures full compliance with all federal, state, local, and foreign regulations, as well as internal departmental policies and procedures.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Serve as PIC or Second-in-Command (SIC), supporting flight operations as required.
  • Ensure aircraft airworthiness, including maintenance preflight inspections, verifying required documentation, and addressing maintenance discrepancies prior to flight.
  • Prepare and file flight plans, and calculate aircraft weight, balance, fuel requirements, and performance data.
  • Evaluate weather conditions for departure, enroute, destination, and alternate airports.
  • Utilize aircraft checklists and Minimum Equipment Lists (MEL).
  • Supervise air and ground crew in preparation for trips.
  • Ensure passenger safety and comfort, providing briefings on emergency equipment and evacuation procedures.
  • Complete postflight inspections, record flight times accurately, and document any inflight discrepancies for maintenance follow-up.
  • Manage all required aircraft forms, logs, reports, and administrative tasks, including expense accounts and learning management system requirements.
  • Maintain aviation proficiency through assigned training and self-study.

Minimum Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 3 years of professional pilot experience.
  • ATP (Airline Transport Pilot) with multiengine land rating.
  • FCC Restricted Radiotelephone Operator Permit.
  • Valid FAA Class 1 or Class 2 medical certificate.
  • Valid automobile driver's license and passport.
  • Minimum of 2,000 hours total fixed-wing time, 500 hours turbojet, and 1,000 hours as PIC.
  • Must possess a type rating in company aircraft or the ability to attend factory training, pass a check-ride, and meet FAR 61.58 PPE requirements.
  • English language proficiency.
  • Thorough knowledge of GOM procedures, SMS, AFM, aircraft QRH, ERP, and relevant safety standards.
  • Strong work ethic, attention to detail, and commitment to customer service.

Preferred Requirements

  • Associate's degree or higher.
  • Previous corporate aviation experience.
  • Minimum of 3,000 hours total fixed-wing time, 1,000 hours turbojet, and 1,000 hours as PIC.

Compensation and Benefits

The anticipated base pay range for this position is $129,000.00 to $183,200.00 per year. Eligible employees receive a comprehensive benefits package including, but not limited to, the Annual Incentive Program, medical/dental/vision plans, retirement savings (401k/Pension), paid time off, and tuition reimbursement. Benefit plans are subject to change at the discretion of Xcel Energy.
