About the Role
Reporting to the Accountable Manager, the Chief Pilot serves as the Nominated Person for Flight Operations (NP FLT) for Wizz Air Abu Dhabi. This critical role is responsible for ensuring the safety, security, and regulatory compliance of all flight operations, including Operations Control, Cabin Operations, Operations Planning, specific approvals, and all contracted activities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Fulfilling the duties of NP Flight Operations as defined by GCAA.
- Ensuring adequate resource allocation for flight operations and raising any concerns to the Accountable Manager.
- Developing policies that enable Wizz Air Abu Dhabi to conduct safe flight operations in accordance with its AOC.
- Ensuring sufficient staffing of pilots and cabin crew.
- Upholding compliance with the Safety Management System procedures and processes.
- Cultivating a strong safety culture across the Wizz Air organization.
- Maintaining oversight of operational deviations and ensuring timely corrective actions.
- Liaising with the competent authority on all flight operations matters.
Further responsibilities encompass:
- Daily management of pilots, including communication and discipline.
- Oversight of pilot recruitment, training, and compensation.
- Management and development of Flight Operations staff.
- Close collaboration with other departments within operations to ensure efficiency.
- Maintenance of all crew records, including duty periods and flight times.
- Ensuring compliance of company Operations Manuals with relevant regulations.
- Accident reporting and notification of local authorities.
- Attendance at relevant industry forums and conferences.
Authorities:
The NP FLT holds the authority to approve or disapprove new routes and aerodrome category assignments, changes to Operations Manuals, crew assignments, MEL extensions, and safety improvement actions. The role also interacts with regulatory authorities, original equipment manufacturers, and other external entities.
Candidate Profile:
The ideal candidate will possess a strong command of the aviation industry and a deep commitment to safety and regulatory compliance.
Essential Requirements:
- 3-year university degree
- Valid flight crew license and associated ratings appropriate to the type of operation conducted under the AOC.
- Practical experience and expertise in aviation safety standards and safe operating practices.
- Comprehensive knowledge of UAE/GCAA regulations, AOC Operations Specification, and Operations Manuals.
- Familiarity with management systems, preferably in aviation.
- Five years of relevant work experience, with at least two years in a comparable position within the aeronautical industry.
- GCAA acceptance as a Nominated Person (Flight Operations).
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure.
- Knowledge of AIMS.
