About the Role:
As the Assistant Chief Pilot for the US, you will help ensure Wing UAS (unmanned aircraft system) crew member readiness to operate the Wing delivery service. You will be expected to take on specific Chief Pilot functions as delegated and specified by Wing’s Chief Pilot for the US. The Assistant Chief Pilot will be authorized to conduct FAA business on behalf of Wing when the Chief Pilot is absent. You will report to the Chief Pilot for the US, conduct training and checking of flight crew. The Assistant Chief Pilot will be responsible for all duties and responsibilities required as a Pilot in Command and will also maintain currency and proficiency as a line crew member for Wing’s Part 135 commercial drone delivery operations. Your primary function is to ensure that Wing UAS crew members are qualified and current to operate the Wing delivery service in the US.
What you’ll do:

Supervises pilots and other crew to ensure compliance with Wing policy, FAA regulations, and standard operating procedures

Function as Line Pilot-in-Command for Wing Part 135 drone delivery operations as necessary

Function as a Flight Instructor for Wing as necessary and as a designated Check Pilot

Monitor operations for deviations from standard operating procedures or regulatory requirements

Performs specified Chief Pilot duties during absences of the Chief Pilot

Attend meetings with FAA and other stakeholders as Wing representative as necessary

Make operational control decisions as necessary to ensure safe operation and be available to provide support as needed to answer questions or prevent delay or cancellation

Review and approve flight crew schedules

Reviews flight crew members flight and duty records for accuracy

Assist in the development of Standard Operating Procedures and training materials

Complete operational risk assessments as directed for system or procedural changes

Participate in operational and system development
What You'll Need:
-
Current 14 CFR Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate
-
14 CFR Part 61 Private Pilot Certificate or higher (aircraft currency not required)
-
No medical condition which would prevent obtaining and maintaining an FAA Class II medical certificate

At least 3 years of experience in a civil or military aviation supervisory or safety management roles (Aviation Department Manager, Military Aircraft Command Pilot, etc)

No FAA enforcement actions (suspensions, revocations, or civil penalties) in the previous five years

Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record

Ability and willingness to travel regularly within the USA to support Wing training and checking requirements

Demonstrated ability to communicate well in spoken and written english

Ability to work independently and in teams while still maintaining rigorous attention to detail

This position is subject to Wing’s Drug and Alcohol testing policy in accordance with Wing’s operating procedures.
Preferred

14 CFR Part 61 Commercial Pilot Certificate (aircraft currency not required)

14 CFR Part 61 Rotorcraft Rating (aircraft currency not required)

14 CFR Part 135 helicopter (rotorcraft) Pilot-in-Command experience

At least 3 years experience, within the past 6 years, as pilot in command of an aircraft (crewed or uncrewed) operated under part 121 or part 135 (crewed or uncrewed) or if previously qualified as a Chief Pilot under Part 121 or part 135, at least 3 years experience as pilot in command of an aircraft (crewed or uncrewed) operated under part 121 or part 135.

Previous qualification as a Chief Pilot or Assistant Chief Pilot or Part 121, Part 135, Part 91K Check Pilot, or as a Military Standards/Evaluation Pilot

Experience as a Pilot-in-Command for a Part 135 Commercial Drone Air Carrier

At least 3 years experience in the Commercial or Public Drone industry in the US or educational equivalent

Ability and willingness to travel outside the USA occasionally to support Wing training and expansion goals

Experience with business or operational data analysis or reporting tools (spreadsheets, SAP, etc)
