Western EcoSystems Technology, Inc. (WEST), a dynamic, mid-sized environmental consulting firm with offices nationwide, seeks three skilled Drone Pilots for a temporary project spanning from August 4th to September 15th, 2024. This unique opportunity offers a competitive hourly rate and the chance to contribute to crucial ecological research.
The Project:
This time-sensitive project focuses on conducting drone-based surveys across various locations in Iowa, with potential for work in northeastern Nebraska and northwestern Illinois. Successful candidates will be part of a team collecting vital data for ecological studies.
Responsibilities:
- Execute drone flights in collaboration with a visual observer, ensuring adherence to all safety regulations.
- Conduct fieldwork in remote locations, potentially with limited cell service.
- Accurately collect and manage data from various field instruments, including anemometers, compasses, and GPS units.
- Work effectively as part of a team, maintaining clear communication and professional conduct with colleagues, landowners, and project supervisors.
- Adapt to varying work schedules, potentially including night-time operations and 8-hour workdays, 5 days a week.
- Demonstrate preparedness for challenging field conditions, including extreme temperatures, rugged terrain, and potential encounters with wildlife.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience piloting drones, specifically during nighttime hours, with preference given to candidates with extensive flight hours.
- Strong understanding of drone safety protocols and FAA regulations, holding a valid FAA drone license.
- Excellent data collection and management skills, including proficiency with relevant field equipment.
- Capacity to work independently and as part of a team in demanding environments.
- Physical fitness and the ability to carry equipment and navigate challenging terrain.
- Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
Compensation & Benefits:
- Competitive hourly rate: $30 - $45, commensurate with experience.
- Housing provided.
- Meal per diem provided.
- Comprehensive training: One-week paid training program in Cheyenne, Wyoming during July 2024.
