WestJet Encore First Officer - Q400 - Calgary (YYC)

WestJet Encore is seeking a First Officer to join its operations based in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. The successful candidate will be responsible for flying the De Havilland Dash 8-400 (Q400) turboprop aircraft for scheduled passenger services across the regional network. This role involves ensuring safe and efficient flights while embodying WestJet's corporate values and providing leadership to the flight crew.

About the Role

• Operate the De Havilland Dash 8-400 (Q400) for scheduled passenger service.
• Ensure the safety of crew and guests by adhering to standard operating procedures.
• Provide leadership to the flight crew.
• Act as a brand ambassador for WestJet's corporate values.
• Work collaboratively within a dynamic team environment.
• Maintain flexibility and adaptability to operational and business demands.

Requirements

• Minimum 750 hours total flight time.
• Minimum 100 hours fixed-wing pilot-in-command (PIC) time.
• A valid Transport Canada Group 1 Instrument Rating.
• A valid Transport Canada Class 1 Medical Certificate.
• A Transport Canada Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL).
• Completion of either the IATRA exam or both the SAMRA and SARON exams (exams must be valid through the completion of the Pilot Proficiency Check (PPC)).
• Legal entitlement to work in Canada.
• Hold a current valid passport and, if not a Canadian passport holder, a Canadian Permanent Resident Card, plus any necessary visas or travel documents for unrestricted travel.
• Ability to obtain a Restricted Area Identification Card (RAIC) prior to completing Initial Ground School.
• Pass a clear police background and criminal record check.
• Pass a pre-employment alcohol and drug screening test.
• Demonstrate oral and written proficiency in English.

Preferred Qualifications

• Transport Canada Airline Transport Pilot Licence (ATPL).
• Exceed minimum experience requirements, including over 1,000 hours accumulated flight time.
• Experience with multi-engine and multi-crew operations.
• Previous internal experience with WestJet.
• Graduation from one of WestJet's partnership schools.
