Captain SA227 Cargo Pilot - Home Based

Waterfall Freight, a prominent air cargo company and leader in outsourced aviation services, seeks a skilled Captain to operate the Fairchild SA227 Metro III. The company provides adaptable solutions for major cargo integrators, manufacturers, and freight forwarders, leveraging its experienced personnel.

Position Overview:

The Captain will pilot SA227 Metroliner aircraft. This is a home-based position, ideally situated within the I-65 Corridor, but open to candidates residing anywhere within the contiguous United States, provided they are within one hour of an airport served by at least two major air carriers with daily service. The position follows a recurring 7-week schedule: two weeks on, two weeks off, two weeks on, one week off. The company provides paid transportation to and from assignments, hotel accommodations, and a per diem of $40 per day while on assignment away from the home base. The Captain may be required to assist in the loading and unloading of cargo.

Compensation & Benefits:

The base salary ranges from $90,000 to $107,000 annually, commensurate with experience. This position offers a mileage incentive, cargo incentive, and retention incentives. The company provides paid training including transportation, lodging, and per diem, a company-paid type rating, reimbursement for Pilot Medical Certificate (not retroactive to pre-hire), medical, dental, and vision benefits, company-provided life insurance, vacation time, a 401K, and equity options after three years of continued service.

Required Qualifications:

  • Must meet FAR 135.243(c) requirements for Pilot in Command (PIC) in Instrument Flight Rules (IFR) conditions.
  • Must meet all company insurance criteria for flight hours.
  • Commercial Pilot License with multi-engine land and instrument rating.
  • Previous FAR 121/135 experience is highly desired.
  • Must be capable of international flight operations and possess a Second Class Medical Certificate.
  • Must be able to lift and move 75 pounds.
  • Must hold an FCC Restricted Radiotelephone Operator Permit.
  • Must possess a valid Driver’s License and be proficient in English.
  • Must be eligible to work in the U.S. without visa sponsorship and travel unrestricted in and out of the U.S.
  • Minimum 1,800 hours total time, 1,000 hours PIC, 500 hours cross-country (defined point to point), 250 hours multi-engine, 100 hours turbine, 100 hours instrument (50 hours in-aircraft), and 100 hours night flight time.
    • 1,200 hours total time (1,700 preferred), 500 hours cross-country (defined point to point), 50 hours multi-engine, 75 hours instrument (50 in actual flight), and 100 hours night flight time will also be considered.
