POSITION SUMMARY:
The Chief Pilot is responsible for the professional standards of the flight crews under his or her authority.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
Develop and maintain standard operating procedures for all aircraft types operated
Develop, maintain, and implement all required approved training programs for flight crews
Issue directives and notices to the flight crews as required
Determine the operational suitability and requirements of all aerodromes and routes served by the company
Action and distribute accident, incident, and other occurrence reports in accordance with regulation / policy
Assist in all assigned Flight Safety Accident/Incident investigations
Prompt reporting of all accidents, injuries, and incidents
SMS Reporting
Process and action Captain Trip Reports
Responsible for the supervision of the Assistant Chief Pilots and Flight Crew
Maintain current operations library and aircraft libraries and ensure they are up to date
Maintain personnel files including employment history, qualifications, seniority list, uniform purchase summary and memo tracking
Ensure all ACP authorizations are valid
Maintain lists of total number of crews required, per base, cross checked
And other duties of the role
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
Must hold a valid Airline Transport Pilot License
A valid instrument rating and a type rating for at least one of the airplanes contained in the Wasaya Aircraft fleet
3 years previous experience as Pilot in Command on HS74, DH8, ATR42 or equivalent
Must be qualified for line flying on one of the types of airplanes operated
SKILLS/ABILITIES:
Must be able to work with minimal supervision
Ability to supervise and train employees, including organizing, prioritizing, and scheduling work assignments
Solid negotiation, conflict resolution, and people management skills
Excellent teamwork and team building skills
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Extensive knowledge of Windows applications is preferred
Thorough understanding of protocol within the region and of Wasaya policies and procedures
Able to plan and organize the activities of others
Able to identify key issues; creatively and strategically overcome internal challenges or obstacles
Effective attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy
Ability to work independently in a busy environment
Able to work well under pressure
Able to deal with people sensitively, tactfully, diplomatically, and professionally always
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Ability to lift up to 70 lbs; Occasionally
Manual dexterity to use computer desktop and peripherals
Overtime as required
Extensive travel is required
Weekend work may be required
Ability to hold a RAIC
