Simulator Instructor

Vista America, an operating partner of Vista - the world's leading global business aviation company - has established a new benchmark in business aviation services across the United States. The company seeks a dedicated and experienced professional to join the Crew Training team as a Simulator Instructor.

As a Simulator Instructor, the individual serves as a key mentor and teacher within the organization. This role is primarily focused on the evaluation and mentoring of company pilots, representing the first level of safety and upholding the highest company standards of service, safety, and competency. The instructor contributes significantly to providing practical experience through supervised training and critical exposure to the Vista America operating environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct simulator training sessions in accordance with established training plans and syllabi.
  • Facilitate the accurate application of procedures related to flight operations and service flow.
  • Provide practical experience and critical exposure to the operating environment.
  • Ensure trainee pilots are safe and capable of conforming to normal operations according to company standards.
  • Ensure each trainee can safely and efficiently perform normal Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) in all phases of flight, adhering to the Fleet-specific Flight Standards Manual (FSM).
  • Instruct trainees on managing the flight path manually and with automation under normal operations.
  • Guide trainees in managing workload to maintain proper situational awareness.
  • Teach safe and efficient line operations by demonstrating effective decision-making processes, including utilizing DORDAR.
  • Instruct on effective monitoring duties and appropriate intervention strategies to maintain safe aircraft operations.
  • Demonstrate and teach effective communication, including interactive Threat and Error Management (TEM)-based briefings and correct R/T procedures and phraseology.
  • Ensure trainees possess a competent standard of operational and regional knowledge, including published operating instructions and information sourcing.
  • Instruct on performing the Service Flow consistently and supporting service recovery.
  • Promote commercial awareness through instruction on efficient operational decisions.
  • Prepare, print, and distribute training materials, handouts, and documentation for students.
  • Present classroom instruction for pilots on relevant Part 135 training courses.
  • Continuously monitor and evaluate training programs for efficacy and administer performance and written tests objectively.
  • Maintain familiarity with new concepts, innovations, changes in regulations, procedures, and improvements concerning safe aircraft operations.
  • Maintain full knowledge of all applicable policies, procedures, manuals, handbooks, and protocol.
  • Maintain all applicable Simulator Instructor currency requirements under Part 135 when instructing in the simulator.
  • Hold at least a 3rd class medical certificate for aircraft operation purposes, if required for maintaining Part 135 instructor aircraft currency.
  • Complete accurate and objective recordkeeping of all training events, including timely submission of training documents after each event.
  • Provide objective, clear information that accurately reflects trainee performance, utilizing the competency grading system.
  • Handle trainee conflicts with diplomacy.
  • Offer positive feedback and constructive criticism.
  • Maintain direct communications with the Director of Training, including providing feedback.
  • Lead by example as a brand ambassador for Vista, ensuring behavior upholds Vista brands.
  • Participate in Training monthly meetings.

This position does not include regulatory authority to conduct 135.293/297/299 line checks, nor does it carry disciplinary authority.

Qualifications:

  • Ability to obtain and maintain an appropriate aviation medical certificate (if required).
  • Possession of an ATP Certificate with at least one PIC Type Rating.
  • CL30 type rating (preferred).
  • Previous qualification as a CFI, CFII, MEI (or equivalent such as Check Pilot, TCE, TRI, TRE).
  • A minimum of 6 months of experience delivering training or 150 hours of dual given.
  • Successful completion of Vista America provided instructor training.
  • Demonstration of professional behavior.
  • Authorization to work in the United States.
  • Ability to maintain current unrestricted travel status.
  • No accidents, incidents, or FAA enforcement actions in the last 5 years.
