Virgin Galactic is seeking experienced Pilots to support the development and operation of its innovative spaceflight vehicles and commercial spaceflight programs at Spaceport America in Truth or Consequences, New Mexico. This full-time role involves critical test flying and commercial pilot duties, ensuring the safe and efficient operation of the Virgin Galactic spaceflight system in compliance with all regulatory requirements and company policies.
About the Role
The Pilot will be instrumental in the development and execution of Virgin Galactic's flight test programs and commercial spaceflights. Responsibilities extend beyond flight operations to include flight planning, mission control support, development of training materials, documentation of vehicle operations, and contributions to future vehicle development and testing. The role also involves collaboration with various teams, including safety, engineering, maintenance, commercial, and marketing, as well as customer hospitality and training.
Requirements

Graduate of an SETP-recognized test pilot school full (one year) course with extensive post-graduate test program experience.

A minimum of 2,500 flight hours, including experience in:

Multi-engine aircraft with asymmetric thrust performance and handling considerations.

High-performance fast jet aircraft.

Low lift-to-drag ratio glide experience (e.g., simulated flameout landings) in complex aircraft.

Valid FAA Class 1 or military medical certificate.

Degree-level qualification in a relevant technical field.

Proven ability to be a successful team member.

Excellent communication skills.

Must be a U.S. Person or able to obtain required authorization for export compliance.
Qualifications

A minimum of 2.5 years of post-graduate test pilot school flight test experience is preferred.

Operational experience within a commercial aerospace aviation project or business is desirable.

Current and comprehensive knowledge of a wide range of aerospace matters is advantageous.

A current FAA Commercial pilot license or equivalent is preferred.

Demonstrated ability to clearly communicate complex aviation and safety information.

Previous experience in authorizing and implementing policies and procedures for safe flight operations is a plus.

Prior spaceflight experience is highly desirable.

Experience with commercial flight operations involving customer interaction is preferred.
