THU Pilot - FBI AMSS Contract
Position Overview
The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) provides domestic and international law enforcement, counterterrorism, and national security missions that require specialized rotary-wing aviation support. The FBI is seeking a qualified THU Pilot for the FBI AMSS Contract to ensure the successful execution of flight and ground operations, contract compliance, and reporting while maintaining strict adherence to Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations and FBI aviation safety standards.
Key Responsibilities

Pilot FBI-designated rotary-wing aircraft to transport personnel, equipment, and sensitive materials.

Conduct flight operations supporting law enforcement, surveillance, reconnaissance, emergency response, training, and other mission-essential activities.

Operate aircraft in controlled, uncontrolled, domestic, and international airspace.

Participate in mission planning and briefings.

Execute time-sensitive and high-risk law enforcement flight operations.

Maintain situational awareness and adapt to dynamic mission requirements while prioritizing flight safety.

Perform pre-flight, in-flight, and post-flight inspections in accordance with FAA regulations, manufacturer guidance, and FBI aviation policies.

Report safety discrepancies, incidents, or aircraft irregularities to designated FBI aviation personnel immediately.

Ensure compliance with all aviation safety procedures, operational risk management requirements, FAA regulations, and international aviation rules.

Support airspace coordination, flight planning, and mandatory aviation documentation.

Maintain accurate records of flight time, duty time, and mission activity.
Technical Equipment
The primary aircraft for this position is the UH60-M.
Qualifications
Education and Certifications

High School Diploma or equivalent in General Studies.

Valid FAA Commercial Helicopter Pilot Certificate with commercial instrument helicopter rating.

Unrestricted Class 1 or 2 FAA medical certificate.

Completion of a helicopter underwater escape training course.

Successful completion of the Washington DC special flight rules area class.

Note: One year of related experience may be substituted for one year of education.
Experience Requirements

Minimum of 500 hours of rotary-wing flight time.

Minimum of 100 hours of NVG/NS (Night Vision Goggle/Night System) flight time.

Minimum of 300 hours in dual-engine, jet turbine helicopters.

Minimum of 25 hours of operation in mountainous terrain (flights consisting of multiple landings above 5000 MSL).

Demonstrated proficiency in mission-oriented rotary-wing operations.

Preference will be given to candidates with over 100 hours of Pilot in Command (PIC) time in type-certificated or military helicopters.
Security Clearance

Must possess a TS security clearance.

Must have the ability to obtain and maintain required FBI security clearances and background investigations.
